nirnhoned vs Imp pvp

OK so just been trying to kill the same guy over and over and failed miserably. Couldn't even get his shield down and I consider myself a beast NB. Got into a chat with the guy and he said try again and I won't use my shield. Ok easy kill right.

I run a high crit build and 4k weapon damage. Should melt a sorc right.

No he's using all nirnhoned armor to my surprise. He then changes out to all impen and died a lot quicker. Notably quicker less than half the time, same armour sets and everything.

So it seems nirnhoned is the way to go no? Flat out doubled resistance over just impen resistance?

Shields are the bane of high crit builds as you can't hit shields critically.

While this is true, you must have missed the part where the sorc in question did not use shields in subsequent fights with the OP. So shields, and the inability to crit against them, have no bearing on the question being asked here. I'll be watching this closely, and may have to do some testing as well.

I don't want nirn to be as op as it was when it was calculating incorrectly, but I would totally support it being marginally more effective than impen.

Well seeing as how nirnhoned affects spell resist currently, I don't think it would have much effect against you, being a stam build. It wouldn't be affecting physical resist.

Shields have 0 resistances/defence so armour enchants are moot while they are up. Thats why sorcs run infused and divines...only reason to run impen/nirn is if you plan on not refreshing or using shields at all.

Edit: And what they should have done on PTS rather than change the time to 6 seconds is instead turn shields into a straight hp buff..that way they can be crit and use the players defences to mitigate dmg.

2nd Edit lol: Also note that traits are changing on PTS so I would not commit to anything this close to release.

Not sure why I wrote that as my stam spec. My magika NB this was on. Was trying to gank people and picked on this dude and he took all my stones so went back for more. All magic damage bar inferno staff weaves.

Youll have a hard time bursting down a shield stacking sorc without burning their stam then using the proxy tether concealed weap combo once they cant break free. Staff weaving is great for sustained pressure but sustained won't bust shields, and will be less effective against nirn armor as it currently is unless you have spent alot of cp into spell erosion.

Nirn beats Reinforced on the smaller armor pieces (Waist, Shoulders, Gloves and Boots) but still loses to Imp

nirn is best vs any magic damage is what I gathered and it makes sense. So melting the impen bc you can still do dmg straight up where as with nirn your dmg is reduced severely
