Rumor is that the "first party" wants to make sure that the Gamer Tag or PSN name is visible for account reporting, and ZOS did not want to clutter the UI with both.
On console, there will likely be both displayed after DB.

If this is going to be the case it will be truly unfortunate. I play on console and want my name to be displayed like every other game... But if they include both psn ID along with character name with no way to hide the ID I will not show both as that would be redundant and to be honest- stupid0
