If I am at resistance cap.....

If I am at resistance cap, does that make putting points into hardy and elemental defender worthless??

Would prefer an answer from some PC master tanks. You've got the experience and the add ons. Please and thank you!

Hoping the answer is YASS!

Further down the line I'd like to know just how much base resistance you should get from heavy armour in gold WITHOUT reinforced. My guess is the meta for next patch is all sturdy? I'd prefer to get to resist cap with shield expert, Breton spell resist, dragon knight spell resist and champion points in heavy armour and even mundus if need be. Then keep my gear free to supplement the other stats.

Already wasted many mats on a tanking set that is good for pledges but worthless in MoL and Imperial dungeons.

    Hardy/ele defender reduces incoming damage before it even touches your character. Only what is let through will get reduced by your armor/spell resist. Which means hardy etc is always useful.

    Was worried that was the case. Thank you for the help. If anyone else has extra info on the other things brought up or have a link to Tamriel foundry I may have missed, please let me know. Always striving for perfection with my PVE builds!

    Im like 99% sure heavy gold armor without reinforced or any other buffs does not get you to cap. I remember someone saying it gets you into the early 20s? But definitely not cap. I think it's only 8 ro 15% more than medium armor

    Sturdy is bad... really bad. If you were to go all 8 pieces Sturdy it totals to about 13% reduction to blocking cost. As far as the best resists go, Nirnhoned on every slot except Heavy Chest piece is better than Reinforced when DB arrives. They might tweak that a bit somewhere down the line, but with max gold on everything Heavy, only the Chest will have higher armor with Reinforced vs everything else Nirnhoned. Shields are a wash either way with Nirnhoned providing a small increase of 50 armor/spell resists more than Reinforced, with or without the 75% bonus armor from CP.

    Thanks @phaneub17_ESO, I will wait it out til DB goes live.

    To be clear you are saying Reinforced on chest... Nirnhoned everywhere else yes? Will be happy to pay for the upmost best in slot.

    With Bracing passive gone I guess I am forced to go full block reduction on the jewelry then? And then can I ignore block cost and that tree all together, leaving me to put all my points in elemental defender and hardy for when I have to drop block?

    My sap tank currently runs all gold, all divines, 3 willpower (all with spell damage), 4 song of Lamae plus both resistance mundus and peaks at 30,000 with defending swords. Runs really well in the average vet dungeons but I don't trust him in trials or vICP or vWGT.

    You'd agree that a dragon knight with innate block mitigation, Breton passives, and Tavas even with more of a magicka build would be a good idea or shall I just trust in seducer (dk magicka abilities are so painfully expensive)?? Trying to be nigh unkillable if I can. Thanks in advance for your time!

    Gold Heavy Armor Stats w/o reinforced(16% increased armor):

    Head, shoulders, Legs, Boots=2425
    Chest=2772
    Hands=1386
    Belt=1039
    Shield=1720 or 3010 w/75 CP in the steed

    Resolve Passive=362 additional armor per piece of Heavy Armor

    (2425+2425+2425+2425+2772+1386+1039+3010(assuming steed bonus)+(362*7)= 20441armor

    On my tank I use armor master and defending swords. If I am not mistaken I use reinforced chest and shield, and when I proc armor master and Major Resolve I am slightly above the cap. However I am currently running Light armor on the belt and hands for increased magicka management. Once I hit Undaunted level 9 I may make the hands medium armor to get the full 6% stat bonus from Undaunted mettle, but am undecided.

    In its current state on PTS, Defending trait is getting a buff next patch. Instead of a 6% armor increase it gives a flat 2.5k. This may help some get to the cap.

    This has all the gold armor ratings for heavy, medium, and light along with them as reinforced for your own information. I will update it once I get a second with full sets as well.
