How to balance Shields...

1. Stop the stacking, Hardened + Harness shouldn't be able to stack period, not as much as a problem in pts due to the short timer though if someone does decide to actually stack it's going to be so difficult to kill them.

2. Allow armour to affect shields, making them slightly harder to bring down, make classes actually consider armour when gearing, also make the major armour buff's more alluring.

3. Let shields be critable, Now before you rinse me continue reading. In return for this give shields a passive 15% crit dmg reduction, combined with shields having armour and a character properly gearing for pvp e.g. use impen, put cp into crit reduction means they could potentially negate up to around 50% crit dmg...

4. Reduce the cyrodiil shield reduction from 50% to 35/40% increasing shields slightly, if you can't shield stack your single shield will actually be bigger.

In summary:

No stacking
Armour will work on shields
Crit able shields, shields get 15% crit resist
Shields get an 10/15% increase in pvp.

Also pve shields would get a boost because of the armour. It's not like would be recommended to stack shield in pve with 6s timer anyway.
Though if shield stacking is stopped maybe make hardened ward the only shields that lasts for 12s, making it an actual unique class skill instead of a slightly better harness magicka.

Of course any shield + healing ward is fine.

    +1 don't see anything offensive here, all good ideas in theory. Although I would go further and say no stacking healing ward with anything.

    Here simple resolution to make everybody happy

    1) Remove shield stacking
    2 ) Leave PVP shield reduction
    4) Add bastion to add seconds to the all shields
    5 ) Place starting time be from 6 sec to 20 sec with max 100cp and max mana or stamina to determinant the strength of the shield.

    And done! then everybody can adjust to their play style pvp or pve no more nerfing or whining , you are ok with 6 sec fine that works for you not for everybody else spend CP points in something else , we need 15-20 sec for pve not a problem we will just invest in new bastion skill. ( or some other skill so in order to get that 20 sec we need to remove CP from something else ect )

    Stacking isn't the problem, but making them uncrittable is. Now every other class will have access to this immunity making it more prevalent for the next 5 months.

    I agree shields should be crittible, as for sorcerers their main issue is lack of self healing, its why many use shield stacking because they would get one shotted without it.

    Dark exchange needs to restore more health or becomes instant instead of having a cast time considering the effect of its cost is limited to the stamina bar.

    The rest of sorcerers self healing requires to be on both weapon bars. The fact is the current design of sorcerers got broken long ago and ZoS constant failed attempts at not listening have really messed this class up.

    Abilities that need to be on all weapon bars to keep up is a very cumbersome system on top of very limited abilities for builds. They don't have instant DPS and need constant setting up on RNG before they can issue out proper damage.

    @Wrobel needs to listen or this game will get out of control in PvE when this patch goes live.

    Sick of these tug of war combat changes where they focus on one and buff it to extreme till they focus on the other.

    Combat gameplay doesn't need month's for adjustments. They should be constant.

    All we need now is no magicka regen while the ward is up.
    Then eveything should be nicely balanced.

    The only thing I would add to the above it to make any damage apply to a shield regardless if it's magicka, stamina or even crits. There's no reason that a shield should ignore Crits, it's not an Impen shield for pete's sake.....

    seeing as they pry will never fix them i just went and bought some shield breaker im tired of dealing with them

    I'm tempted too myself, I can offset my wpn dmg loss with trading my 1 bloodspawn for 1 kena as i'll get the recovery from wearing shieldbreaker. I'll be around 40 wpn dmg down, lost some crit but be able to murder shields.

    And considering zos is handing out shields like it's xmas nowdays seems like a good choice.

    Why would a tank need a shield, the idea is to stack armour for mitgation, which is useless when using a shield.

    Cause he has a shield. Such questions deserve silly answers.
    If you are a DPS you should kill not protect yourself. If you are an assassin you should dispatch and disappear. If you are a tank you should control and protect. If you are a healer you should heal, buff and debuff.

    I am against every aspect of ESO classes and builds. I am 100% for role classes.
    You cannot have balance when characters are made from any race with any class using any weapon/armor.

    You want balanced shields? Leave the shields and barriers to healers and tanks. Not dps builds.

    You want to survive as dps? Port away or hide or kill.

    I like the idea of using Champion skills to lengthen the Shield duration. I do not like the starting duration to be 6 seconds. A lot of PvE fights take a lot longer than that and since Shields cost so much you either need to have some kind of boosted recovery, or your pool will drain very quickly. I just unlocked Sun Shield on my lvl36 Templar and the six second duration is appalling, almost even not worth it.

    You'll be casting shields a lot faster than they naturally run out of time anyway.

    Shields pop just as fast on tanks in PVE. Tried a REAL PVE heavy armour 35k magicka sorc out the other night... The shield lasted about 2 seconds in non vet banished cells. Disgraceful.

    Back to OP with the changes to shields coming now MINUS any cost reduction, you might as well take them off your bar except for entering trash mobs. Your suggestions are great, constantly suggested by others, but great. The problem is the devs don't play the game like we do so they can't see the error of these changes.

    Please ZoS stop catering for PVP in PVE: they are not the same. Your slackness only hurts the game.

    You only really need shields in VMSA on a sorc, everywhere else you can do without them.
