How to inspect other players?

Gargath
Gargath

Is it possible to inspect other's gears and attributes in this game, like it is easily done by few clicks in SWTOR for example?
Imo it would be great to see other players' builds to compare with ours.
Especially in pvp, where it's hard for newbies to have a decent build to stand against experienced pvpers.

You need to walk up to them, and stare intently until they run away. Then you need to get your Monkey pet to follow them, and report back everything they do.

ASK THEM. An inspect option has been repeatedly rejected by the majority of the community every time the topic's been brought up. But you can always ask a player for some tips if you think they're doing well.

yeah it would suck if we were able to know someone was a bad player before wasting an hour to get a group and wipe repeatedly just to find out our tank is essentially another dps with bad numbers. much better the way it is where everyone gets to waste there game time.

I hope this is NEVER an option. In TERA, people would disregard you because of your gear and kick you from groups. It was ridiculous, especially when queue times could go up to a few hours. The Elitists ruin options like this. Hell, it's why TERA gave us the option to turn it off so nobody could inspect you if you didn't want them to.

It would be good for newbies but conversely not for min/maxers who've spent significant time theorycrafting and money testing unique builds. Tamriel's Foundry provides a lot of well explained builds which you should check out if you haven't already it.

You forgot to put "optimal" in scare quotes. Because 99 times out of 100 those "optimal" builds they're demanding only exist as a cookie cutter on someone's blog, that only works in a very narrowly defined set of circumstances.

Or, you know, because you have the gall to want to run a dungeon with a well fitted and impen monster set. Or because they think the "optimal" crafted tank set is Alessia's Bulwark or whatever.

And with that attitude that is why a lot of people don't like ESO and MMOs in general because they don't want to play with people like you who think they are better then everyone else when they are not.

Only if people look at it that way.

I am no fan of an inspect option, HOWEVER with everyone able to see your CP's etc with the DB update I can't see why this would not be added too. I have no shame in what I wear! And it can be helpful for looking at builds etc.

I would always be fine with the being given the option to allow someone to inspect me, but I will never be fine over someone inspecting me without my approval.

Other people can go spend their own time and gold to find out what builds work for them. Or find one of the many people willing to give that information. They shouldn't be able to just take it without asking. This argument I understand and agree with. What I don't understand is how this suggestion always seems to come down to elitists vs casual... Elitist can ask you to link your gear now and kick you if you don't. Nothing changes if something like this is added other than the ease of showing them.

You posted three lines, which tell us a few things about you. We know you're not the kind of player who enjoys to play with other players, but uses other players to achieve his own goals, thus "selects" other players according to his own needs only. We know that you don't know the game very well because there are outstanding players out there who can perform very well in spite in bad/average gear. [snip]

If you are trying to run a difficult dungeons you could save yourself a lot of time by seeing the equipment of players.

But probably everyone who disagree likes to run ICP with a "tank" wearing no set items and/or bad dps ones.

I have nothing against casual players, but you see things only in one way; you think good players are bad cause they don't wanna play with casuals, what you don't seem to understand is that casuals are also rude wasting time trying to do things they have not skill to do.

explain then the videos I have posted in other threads of me taking people in to vet prison and vet white gold tower to get them through it and teach them the mechanics? explain why im often crafting gear for other folks? where are these amazing players with bad gear? if they are amazing they will be constantly trying to improve this incudes getting decent gear for your role.
i could follow up with a few observations I have made about you from your posts but I'm better than that. also ad hominem attacks on other posters dont strengthen your arguments against an inspect option.

But that wouldnt give anyone the option to satisfy their superiority issues right ?

I don't have fun playing with people who have no idea what to do so we end up wiping and disband the group.

And don't forget most of the time those kind of players don't comunicate so there is no solution at all.

Those aren't casuals. Not real ones. They're "elites." You know, with the scare quotes. Because they're just that badass... in their own minds. Then they get salty at everyone. The players who know what they're doing. The players who are just here to have fun and kill some things with their buddies. Everyone. And, to generally, make life miserable for everyone else.

So, let's not accuse people who are just here to have a good time names, okay?
