Dark anchor mode?

I think we all have seen the cinematic trailers of ESO and while an anchor is pretty awesome the first times ingame, they become incredible boring and if you got some experience extremly easy to the point where you can basicly watch a video while spamming an aoe skill.

I don't want to change the anchors spread over the current zones since questing shouldn't be a big challenge, but instead ZOS should add end game anchors providing an alternate to dsa, msa, dungeons and trials.

First of all those are instanced and as second there should be both a 4 and 12 man variants.
4 man dark anchors would spawn near capital cities accesable thought instanced invasion sites ( maybe a magic shield casted by the mage guild surround it while fighter guild warriors guard them to seperate it from the rest of the map )
There would be only 2 12 man anchors. The big one over white gold tower ( only accesable if you own the imperial city dlc ) and another one in cold habour so people have a reason to visit that place again. ( different enemies and rewards than wgt anchor )

On top of it two modes should exist. Mode 1 is a normal wave one like dsa and msa while mode 2 is survival mode with limited amounts of revives for each player.
Of course there would be also special rewards like weapons ( Cold habour weapons? ), polymorphs ( xivilai, fire atronach polymorphs ? ) and new sets.

    God this sounds so epic. The enemies have to be numerous and have BIG bosses. Like Flesh Abomination from ICP x3 big. All of the spawns within the anchor should be random too, like current anchors, so you don't just have one constant strategy and youre on your toes the whole time you're in there.

    A worldboss similar to the Unfinished Dolmen in Wrothgar would be nice. But expanded to be a real Dolmen event with Molag taunts and everything. And not soloable of course.

    Leave the current anchors as is.

    Seems like a solid idea that would be "easy" to implement since the mechanic is already there.

    The challenge will be determining the right reward that will motivate players to use it without conflicting with other ways to get the same reward.

    I honestly don't know if you're aware of this, but there are unique Dolmen sets like the Lich and Draugr sets. Once the Dark Brotherhood expansion drops, CR160 versions should be available in Gold zones.

    Pull itself onto itself in an attempt to plane meld the very same plane into the plane it's already on?

    RIFT did it pretty well. Rifts (basically exactly the same as anchors) open up randomly across each zone. In differering strengths and sized, and even types. You could even initiate a 'heroic' version which spawns a huge world raid boss.

    Having the random element to them makes it a lot more exciting. Be questing and suddenly an anchor opens above your head. But then it was a bit annoying when you were casually questing, and suddenly a rift came and suddenly every other player in the zone comes rushing towards you

    I love the sound of that. Anchors are really easy right now. I remember when anchors in Vet zones required at least 4 people and even then some good builds. The only challenging ones are in Cyrodiil right now, and that's only because of the PvP threat.

    I still enjoy rushing to one as soon as I hear the sound, regardless if I've done that thing a thousand times before.

    Not really likely... dark anchors after all are part of the mainstory, they will not want to change them from their current wortking state, and any new DLC will be post-mainstory, where the great chackle is destroyed, the planemeld stopped, Molag Bal is defeated and his anchors cleared.
    That being said...
    There always are possibilities. I personally like the idea of a world boss with randomness... but it does not have to be an dark anchor. Could just as well be anything, really... Molag Bal may have slinked back to coldharbour to lick his wounds and rebuild his body, but there are lots of other daedric princes who may wish to take a short at nirn. Any one of them could go with their own invasion attempt... maybe not oblivion portals from Mehunes Dagon, simply because we had that in "TES:Oblivion" already... but who knows what kind of ways the others might try? There easily could be an DLC around that, some other daedric prince trying to gain a foothold in an region to use as staging area for an invasion of tamriel, resulting in such "close the door" dolmen-esque fights as the OP described... some small ones (balances for 4), and one main one (balanced for 12)? With random attackers, so you have to adjust tactics on the fly, instead of knowing exactly what to expect like with the current world bosses...
    I could see it happen someday!

    I believe those anchors are the mirrors to Nirn's. Like things go in it to come to Nirn. I suppose closing them from the inside would work, but in Cold harbour we already destroyed the Great Shackle.

    I believe those anchors are the mirrors to Nirn's. Like things go in it to come to Nirn. I suppose closing them from the inside would work, but in Cold harbour we already destroyed the Great Shackle.

    In that case the big one in cold habour could be added thee mirror to the wgt anchor and about the great shackle.
    It's down and yet the imperial city still gets flooeded with daedra, same as the rest of cyrodiil. Either molag got plan b or we say this dark anchor mode plays in the past since it's just a bonus to current content like district control for imperal city gets added after it the city was implented.

    I do content for fun mainly.
    If its random its never predicatable anyway so you cant get bored with it.

    Craglorn is a perfect example of epic fun and no loot.
    Its dead, even before they added vet 16 or even vet 14.

    In ESO especially it's not always about having better or more powerful gear. We have gear that actually does cool things, spawns helper npcs or causes enemies to explode and what-not. In ESO gear means having more options for builds and adds quit a bit of diversity. It breaks up the monotony for content you've already completed by adding new methods of approach.
