Finally got meteor! Yay!

I'm leveling my v3 Sorc and just got meteor. But when I tried it on a same level v3 bear it hit like a wet noodle. What cp trait(thermaturge?) makes meteor hit harder?

Leveling the skill, taking a morph, then leveling the morph will help a lot.

No, just stick with elemental expert, as you won't be able to double dip on damage in the next patch

@Bandit1215 Ive been using overload since I got it and it makes leveling fun! Killing bosses easily. I should have leveled more sorc alts. Lol. I think I got turned off initially when I first started. lvl 3-20 sucks for a sorc.

@brandonv516 I would pvp if it weren't for my anger issues. I get crazy when my ping hits 999+ and I get killed because of it(not ZOS fault but providers). I literally am ready to throw the computer out the window(female pms rage!)! So if I pvp I can see myself getting a new computer everytime I get ganked. lol.

Elemental Expert should be your main cp, thaum only increases dot dmg. Next patch you won't be able to double dip cp meaning some of your ability won't be able to scale off dot dmg like they do now.

Just put about 80 in elemental expert then split the rest between spell crit dmg and spell penetration.

Remember that you want to increase your Spell Damage and max Magic first, to increase the power of your Meteor. Some of this will come as you level up, and some will be based on your gear/build. So keep grinding those levels - and more champion points will also add to your stats, including max magic.

Meteor is fun and strong, but NOT actually that much stronger than other class ultimates, especially against targets that move around a lot, since most of the damage is Damage over Time, in a fairly small area. Which ultimate is best is usually situational.

As far as pure CPs go, Elemental damage is your first priority, but the Thaumaturge increased DOT damage is also good (for now), and you also want to increase your spell crit (unlock the 30 CP point passive)

I don't PvP much either, personally I prefer Shooting Star because of the additional Ult generation (which allows you to use it more often), but depending on your build you may want Ice Comet for the additional damage.

@Epona222 thanks again for the advice. I will definitely get Shooting Star morph because I want the Ult generation faster. I'm so spoiled with overload right now. Its alwayrs ready! lol!

Overload and several other skills and ultimates are actually benefiting from Thaumaturge though they are not truly DoTs or only have a DoT component, due to a bug. This issues are fixed in the Dark Bros. patch and you can no longer double dip the damage.

@susmitds thanks for the info. I saw deltia's video on sorcs and my build is similar to his with the exception of the head and shoulders(don't have those yet). Using all light julianos.

I'm not super experienced with Sorcs, but as someone who normally levels up in a PvE environment, I try to level up ALL skills in case a) there is a specific situation where they are useful, and b) the skill may be changed in a later DLC to the point where it becomes much better for something than the way I do it now.

More specifically for sorc pets, I prefer to DPS without them using up a slot on each bar, but there are definitely viable pet-based builds. The main non-obvious uses of sorc pets that I have seen are:
1. Clannfears (unstable familiar morph) are useful as a fake tank, to keep aggro off you, especially if you can use hardened ward to also help keep your pet alive.
2. Clannfears are very useful in dolmen fights and other messy melee combats, for running directly to the remaining enemy mobs. It is otherwise often hard to figure out where the last remaining enemy is hiding.
3. One morph of the winged twilight used to provide a 10% buff to magic (recovery?) for group members; I think that was nerfed or changed in the TG DLC. That said, the Twilight is one of the few self-heals that Sorcs have, and it does damage too.

Whats the purpose of leveling a skill which is already morphed?
in other words what the point of leveling a morphed skill?

A skill has 4 ranks before you can morph it, and 4 ranks of the morph.

So you can level up Meteor to completely fill the 4th rank bar (it will tell you on screen "Meteor can now be morphed"). Then you choose a morph, and that morph has 4 levels - and gets stronger with each level. All actives and ultimates work the same way, there is still some leveling to be done once you have chosen a morph. I hope that explains it ok.
