Stam Sorc, should I?

I am waiting for the 4 extra char slots in the crown store after the DB DLC is released to make my Stam Sorc. I do not understand if the "nerfs" or players are over reacting like they sometimes do.. Should I make one?

I already have a magicka based Sorc and love her to bits and looking for tips for making one. I am thinking about a Red Gruad, WW -- sword and shield. Will that work with the new update in DB DLC? What type of skills should I focus on?

I actually deleted my stam sorc a couple days ago to make room for another templar. I'll eventually buy another character slot for a new stam sorc because they're a lot of fun, but their damage is really lacking because there are few class skills that you will actually use and there aren't many passive abilities that will help you out. If you want a character that's a lot of fun I definitely recommend stam sorc, but if you want something that does crazy damage there's definitely other options. Deltia and Fengrush both have pretty good stam sorc builds. Race wise redguard is great. Some people go orc because of the extra speed (stam sorc's uniqueness is it's mobility/speed).

What are they main skills that they use?
What is the main weapon do they use usually?

I gather they are a DPS type build then, not a tank.

I am looking for a fun, but different type of sorc build. I already have a magic based one. Is a pet Sorc any good in VR16 land?

If it is something you think you would enjoy I strongly encourage you to give it a shot! Redguard often seems to be a good choice for stamina users (I often see orcs as stam sorcs), but as I am by no means a min/maxer I can not give you the most definitive answer on whether that is the "best" choice or not.

I always figure if you want to try something give it a shot, at the absolute worst you will have realized a particular build you do not enjoy and can then cut that thought out of your mind for the rest of your gaming experience, at the opposite end you may find a build that you enjoy more then any other! That is always a fair risk in my opinion!

With the changes coming in DB I can not give you too much of suggestions as I have not played on PTS, but I know stam sorcs relied on their mobility through streak and gap closers a lot as well as boundless arm. Crit rush along with crit surge allowed you to always get a heal when needed (at least in pve) which was a pretty neat combo and if you stack crit very high then your crit surges can give you pretty decent longevity although your health pingpongs a lot as you are not too durable if that makes sense (essentially you get hit HARD, but can restore that health quick as you get healed from your HARD hitting crits).

I am a stam sorc I do run against the dlow of the river I sustain hi and burst dmg using surge and two hander along with a bow and bound arma but you do feel the pain when you see 5k dps nb or templars and that class abilities synergize better with everyone but a sorc..

Dmg and survival wise I can solo all of the wrothgar world bosses using 1hvy 6med bow and two hander. And can solo most vet 16 dungeon bosses as long as they don't have some insta kill or gimmicks one shot guarantee death skills. Like the dungal grotto chick with the shades. Ot white gold tower boss that tosses you in a cage and restarts the fight if solo.

So far nerfs etc I'm not seeing much in nerfs but I'm not seeing the same buff love as the other 3 classes. Out of the other evry 2 or 3 buffs they get stam sorc gets maybe 0.5-1buff per dlc

go pack leader with your WW so you can have 2 dire wolf summons ;) that way if you build in pets you can still have pets out when you WW out.

If you want to try stam sorc for a "different" sorc playstyle, dont. Roll another class instead. Stam sorc is nothing like mag sorcs simply due to the lack of stamina morphs for sorc skills.

Stam sorcs are just fine for PvE over world content, and are are serviceable for vet dungeons, etc.

What you really need to understand about stam sorcs is that they are pretty much just a chassis for weapon and universal skills, and a pretty crap one at that. There are very few class skills that synergize well with stamina, and the passive skills aren't much better. There are some notable exceptions, but nothing that puts them on even ground with other stamina based builds. I have tried them (started as one at PC launch actually) and I don't find them very fun. They sound good in theory, but their key gimmicks don't work very well in execution.

    Nothing really.
Unless you dont care about racial passives and just play casually along. I was quite successful in 1.6 with my Magicka Khajiit sorc even though literally no passive helped that playstlye. However the game is different now, and the lower damage across the board makes a magicka race highly more viable for the respective builds.

Yeah, nothing really, if it fails. Have you tried stam builds for other classes? I highly recommend a nightblade, if you haven't tried the class. I think they are the most similar to sorc in terms of feel, and they make an excellent stam build. You don't have to play the sneaky assassin playstyle either. They are very versatile in how they can be played. I go for a tankier 1hs/bow build personally. It's a lot of fun.

Yeah, I played every class -- both magic and stam based. Also, in many cases I have both Vampy and WW versions of the same class. I do have 8 VR16s.

I wonder how well it will work if one build a char is 100% based on weapon skill lines and do not use any class skills at all.

Stamina specs are a lot of fun with the mobility. Streak, credit rush covers tons of ground in seconds and boundless storm you're very quick. 3 skill bars is great too

My first new slot will be a khajit stam sorc dw.

    Looking forward to it.
My rough plan is emphasize crits and surge, maybe into medium tbs (thief shadow) or maybe briarhart and night mother gaze + 2 hundings just not sure.
If that healing is't sufficient, may toss in a curse set for its proc aoe damage healing.

just rough thoughts. not fully fleshed out.

I'm running a Stam sorc atm, and I love it. Maelstrom 2hand/maelstrom bow build. 1 blood spawn, 1 kena, 5 hundings, 3 agility. Really only use 3 sorc abilities and the rest skills everyone has access to. Sustain and damage are good for me. Usually win most 1v1s.

I've enjoyed it enough to reroll an orc sorc because as a high elf, none of my racial really go with stamina builds.

I am leveling mine and he is tons of fun. Dual wield, bow. With the changes in DB to fighters guild passives, it'll give really nice bonus weapon dmg. Along with bound armaments and surge on the front bar it'll give even more weapon dmg. Dot's with the bow and steel tornado along with flurry for main damage, even now at lvl 49 I'm getting pretty respectable dps. Oh and with bound armaments you get extra 20% hp and stam recovery from summoning passives, which is really nice.

The player is strong, not the class.

You'll find less helpful skills available to a Stamina Sorcerer than among other classes, but people do not give it credit for what it does have. Remember than you will be using weapon skills for your main DPS!

Mainly, you have unlimited access to Major Expedition (along with an on-character AoE DoT plus increased armor/spell resist) through the skill Boundless Storm. You also have very good PvE heals from Critical Surge. Streak provides an area CC.

Pretty sure there are other things I didn't list. If you want to do it.......

I have 2. Redguard v16 and khajiit lvl10. You can build a pretty good tank and the sort passives are better than people are saying. If you want a PvE DPS go with a khajiit surge build. You should be rolling in more crit chance than you know what to do with pretty quickly. And that BA is pretty sweet with its 8% boost to max stam. Unless the pets get a stam morph, they will be fairly mediocre for you and they'll still be lacking in HP.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I will go DW for my main weapon and bow as a backup / range weapon. I want to make her now, but can not. Can't wait for the DB DLC! 29 days to go as the time of this writing...

You'll want 2h/ bow. Critical charge is a guaranteed heal and a gap closer which dw/ bow does not have.

Will the 4 extra char slots in the crown store be 1000 crowns a slot?
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!
