it's because it will cause impulse buys then if they choose and most likely will add them back for short periods and cause a influx of buyers to grab em kinda like the mcrib disgusting thing but man when it rolls around i can't get my damn mchicken to save my life lol

Worst part is, I will buy the stupid purple dress -.-'

I like it a lot, but I hate that it deforms my character's body. But since Gina and Jessica said it isn't intended, I was going to wait until it was fixed. Now I'll buy it on the (stupidly small) hope that it will be fixed one day. Though, why would they fix an item that no one else can buy anymore, right? Sigh...
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Yeah, it's unlikely - that dress could be fixed with a matching necklace for example, which would make the distortion less obvious. I mean which woman would wear such a dress without a necklace in the first place?- This was just silly.

Are they doing a sale again? Or just removing them?
They are flat out removing them based on the news update they posted.

That's even worse than what they did before, then. At least they had a 50% off sale on items that were being removed back then :unamused:

    ^ Bingo.

At least give us a darn sale!

We may get a sale; it's too early to tell. Just don't run out and buy up stuff right away. if you really want it wait until the last minute. There is that about a virtual store; they won't run out of stock.

@Moonscythe I dunno about that. I'm guessing we will see a crown sale the day after everything is removed (to go with the new DLC release)

..but personally I have the crowns. I was hoping for in in store sale like last time haha.

So far for returning things... all I recall is bringing back the limited time panther senche again. I don't think they have brought back anything from previous crown store removals (blacksmith, chef etc.) Maybe you could count the Palomino that was available for purchase before B2P and then wasn't available for some time.. then they added it.. and now it's getting taken away again.

In another game I played they actually had a limited amount of space for their in game store.

Not sure if it's the same here, but a possibility.

Why do people demand a sale? If you don't want don't buy. You are not entitled to a sale... Why do you feel so entitled? It ruins the community.

Maybe they're going to do what some games do where they have a seasonal 'rotation' in their store - every 4-6 months they switch around the items that are available.

Apparently it's a combination of not wanting to overwhelm players with the number of things listed (which can make it hard to find the things you want) and getting people like me to stop saying "Yeah I'll get that at some point" and actually get on and buy it.

I'd be very surprised if they're actually just removing things forever though, because that makes no sense. Having made them there are little/no extra costs involved and considerably more opportunity to profit by keeping them up for sale.

I am happy with my netch and my goat. The next and only thing I would buy is if they brought a sheep into play. Preferably one that breathes fire and had massive horns! Or just a normal sheep.

They likely have internal data/external research that suggest this sort of arteficial scarcity promotes sales, despite the protests here. ESO's player base is large enough that that data likely applies. They'll recycle the items at some point though, no doubt. Some limited holiday or anniversary sale.

Well, let's hope this means they are giving us a LOT of items to replace them with. People complain about them removing items... why does this bother you? If you want it, buy it... if not, who cares. I know personally it gets annoying going into the Crown Store and having to scroll through all the stuff that's been there for months, stuff I have never wanted to buy anyway, but I still have to see it every time I go there to look for something new. Change is good... especially if it means adding something new.

It bothers me because I want the game to be a success and make money, I have every single item launched in the Crown Store because I'm an ESO maniac, and I can't understand why they would take away this source of revenue. Sure impulse purchases are a thing but isn't it better a steady string of purchases? For instance new players joining won't be able to buy those, maybe they would, and they weren't even here for the "impulse" bull, maybe ZOS want to get people to spend crowns they are hoarding, but if they are hoarding all this time it's unlikely they will spend on something they didn't plan for. The whole move just feels dumb. And a large catalogue of products is never a problem, if is annoying for you just don't browse but can make them a lot of money, limit the amounts of ways I can spend my money is not smart at all.

The demand for the item increases when its limited and more people buy it because they know they might miss out on it.

Sometimes, it sells more than way than keeping it there plus people want to look exclusive and are more likely to buy it.

Imagine the fire horse was limited edition for 4 days? way more people would have it imo

Here's why this isn't a great strategy. It is only by need to change a guild member's rank that I signed onto eso, and just happened to check the crown store to see what is new. There are times that I don't play this game for months, and times that I don't check the crown store for months even when I'm playing. There are 2 outfits I want to get that exit in 10 days, though 1 is 1000 and I just don't consider it worth that money. That's half the cost of Thieves. Plus, I only have enough crowns right now to get maybe 1 outfit and see what the glowy cat costs and if I can afford that. But then again, that would wipe out my intended crowns for Orsinium.
My hope is that they intend to bring some/all of these outfits and mounts back later, but with slight cosmetic changes. Maybe the color scheme is different, or for mounts maybe there is a difference in the saddle, etc.
But then I'm conflicted, because really what I want are outfits that I can dye to my desires. An outfit that is stuck in one color scheme and can't be changed, can't even be mixed and matched with other outfits (pants from one, top from another, etc.) is too restrictive. I guess during this post I've reminded myself of the reasons I don't buy the cosmetic items in the store unless they are on sale. So the creation of the need to purchase something leaving the store worked as intended for ZOS, but couldn't overpower the shortcomings of the products I was considering. Want to sell me stuff? Look at what I just typed in this post. This honestly did turn into a stream of thought as I kept typing.

As many people have said in much longer ways...

This is just one of the ways ZOS is trying to manipulate it's players.

Show them that these tactics don't work on us. Don't buy the items leaving!!!

Edit: I realize how futile this expression of dissatisfaction would be because for every one person that doesn't buy the items out of principal, there will be a thousand who play right into ZOS' hand and buys all the things leaving the store.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

ZOS, this makes no sense. I spent time thinking how this would be a good business for you but unless I'm really blind I can't see! Perharps you are trying to make those retired items exclusive somehow? I can't possibly believe you guys can create and expand the beautiful world of Tamriel but have a size limited VIRTUAL store. It doesn't cost you anything to produce the store item after you finish them, you can distribute billions of them at no cost for you. New playes who would buy those goods won't be able to buy them. I don't understand why. If nothing all crown store things should be available 24/7 if they weren't a timed limited edition. HELP ME MAKE SENSE PLEASE HOW CAN YOU TAKE DOWN ITEMS THAT WOULD BRING YOU REVENUE!

I guess it come down to space and keep crown store fresh for i guess if most people have everything that is on crown store ZoS wont make any sells so that is why the remove item so the can put in new item there.

If they have a sale they may siphon off some extra crowns, they won't get any more if they simply remove them. I've saved enough crowns for the next dlc, so an impulse buy in a crown store sale will ultimately lead to purchasing another pack of crowns.

Im shocked at how quickly they removed the Bosmer skirt outfits. Those things were in the store barely a month when that announcment was made.

But typically I buy what I want when it releases. Rarely do I go back in and grab things after the fact. Theres maybe a handful of things in the store that I still want and Im patient enough to grab them later/certain enough they wont be removing them any time soon.
