Hunting Grounds doesn't scale?

I have a new level 12 alt (altoholic here) that I wanted to make a werewolf so I asked a friend to bite me with his VR 1 character thinking it would scale to my level...it didn't, everything was level 38 within the portal. Is this the minimum level or some sort of bug?
The strange thing is level 38 is the exact difference between my character and his so I wonder was being grouped with him at the time of the bite a factor?

In a related question, how long does the Sanies Lupinus disease last? I tried doing this quest anyway and the level 38 mammoth was tickled by my claws, so I'm hoping to level up and return later.

This is a fixed quest at L38 no matter what level you get the disease at. Not sure if it levels up. It might if your in a Vet Instance of the zone. It's more a tutorial on how to use WW Skills than a quest to get exp from. Note, the Vamp Quest is the same way. It is also very short.

I don't know how long you can have the disease, but I had it for quite a while (week at least) before I went and did the quest to get the skill. I had not realized I had been bitten TBH, it happened in a mob fight. Worse comes to worse, cure it, then go get the disease again.

As for just tickling the Mammoth, well, that is kind of the point to use the Werewolf skill and take it down that way. I did not slot any other skills on my bar for that part, I am not sure if I could, but I did not even try.

Thanks, I assumed it was a leveled zone as I did this with a VR 1 character and it matched my level....I guess it only scales up, not down.

As for the mammoth, I've never seen a werewolf so weak ha. My claws had nearly no effect and because I lack the healing howl, the mammoth killed me both attempts before I even halved it's health.

After I beat the quest, I stayed in the area to level my werewolf to Rank 6 so I could turn people. When my partner beat the quest, she stayed in the quest area until Rank 9 to effectively get all the possible skills unlocked.

In the quest area you stay in form a lot longer than you will in the rest of the world, making levelling easier.

I know this doesn't help right now with your question, but it's a thought for the future.
What do dragons say when they see a new hatchling? Fus roh d'awwww!

yeah it is a set instance of 38 may scale upwards cant say for sure. but if you have some cp behind your belt and at level gear(if not craft a set for the alt) you should be set to do it. Have seen some pretty low levels as a vamp/WW but a lot of them used range and terrain to fight off the enemies. battles took some time normally puling 1 mob at a time to accomplish this. so good luck my friend on your journey to WW

Good suggestion. I could probably pull it off now but I think I will wait until I'm at least level 20 so I'm not in there over an hour.

yeah think the lowest I have seen was a lvl 6 or 8 vamp I cant remember exactly he was like it took me 3 hrs+ to beat it pulling 1 mob a time battles were like 20mins for a kill haha im like you have some patience I couldn't do it. I would have given up and let it kill me grind some levels lol.

Wow yeah I don't have that kind of patience or play time in one session.

I was not sure if it scaled up. I don't remember the exact level my character was when I did it, but it was in the Gold Instance of Reapers March. I just remember the fight was quite protracted as I was just using the WW skill you get for it.

I can imagine it would be quite the fight taking it on a L12. Which is why chuckled so much at console launch with all the people who wanted to become Vamps and WW straight out of the wailing prison.

Another thing to consider, it may take a long time to level the skill at L12. I can not find the exp needed per rank, but if its like Vampire, its going to take a long time at L12 as the mobs give much less Exp at that level. The skills are scaled to an L38. WW might level based on the number of mobs you kill like FG is, but not sure.

You can do it at low levels. Put points into stamina and beef up weapon damage. A couple nice potions and food help a lot.

Doable at level 6, but way too much work. At level 20 you should have no problem.

The bite doesn't fade away. So you can wait as long as you like. I waited 3 weeks for vampire (just couldn't decide if I wanted to turn).

I hope someday everything in game either scales to character level or your character scales down. That way content is never wasted.

I mean seriously! What's the point of making a beautiful land like Tamriel if you just pass through everything on your path the CP one billion :p

Guild Wars 2 or SWOTOR style would be perfect IMHO.
