    OLD BLOCK COST @ 58% = Fortress + Bracing + Def Stance

    NEW BLOCK COST @ 58% = Fortress + Defensive Stance + 100 Champion Point + 2-3 Sturdy Trait

In exchange for 100 CP and 2-3 Traits, if we get hit a bunch of time, then we get a minimum amount of extra damage that we most likely wont even get to utilize because we are getting hit a bunch of times and need to focus on surviving.

thats why I quit playing half a year ago,
Zos dont care about tanks, and all new content if focussed on max dps weavers
I dont like to play that way, I like to tank, but it looks like theres no room in this game for that.
t(h)anks for the nice write up @Personofsecrets

(I do still linger on ther forums sometimes to see what they are screwing up with each new patch ;) )

I am A DK Tank. I am a Master Crafter. While both take a lot of time and hard work ans most hate doing either. I love doing because it is a challenge and one day I will become a good tank. Tanking in PvP has shown me we mostly punching bags but the 6 guys I keep busy means others can get away or a chance to take over resources or a keep. Being a tank solo I have no issues but soon want try the solo trial MSA. Also play hybrid tank as I like variety... doing 2 skills over and over may make you a killer but that just boring!

Yea, that is why I am a bit conflicted about the current tanking meta revolving around Tava's Favor and War Horn. I tried to get away from all of the passive buffs and become more of a hybrid player myself - it was quite a bit of fun to do that. Now though, despite the sheer force of Tava's Favor, I feel that a tanking meta revolving around buff stacking is back and I don't enjoy that type of play a whole lot.

well done on taking the time to put together such well communicated thoughts. number 5 particularly struck a chord. i would look at it more as Damage Vs Defence balance, something crucial in all games that have PvP.

normal games balance by "more defence" = "less damage", "more damage" = "less defence".

This game draws the regen and pool management into that mix directly through armor bonuses. So to gain maximum defence (using heavy armor) you end up sacrificing a lot of damage and regen. But to get more damage you sarifice mostly regen. because you can get mitigation damage through other methods. Evasion, shields, cloak, dodge block, de-buff, CC. all require resources.

so that trade off is "more damage" for "less resources" but not necessarily less survival. Then add to that abilities that return resources like potions, dark exchange, elemental drain, channeled focus?, siphon strikes, malestrom resto staff, heavy attacks. And soon you see this big disparity between the gains and sacrifices of being a tank vs being a damage dealer. and lets not even consider the effectiveness of penetration vs heavy armor.

Even the humble heavy attack is a prime example, ~ 55% to 75% ? of the mitigation a tank has is blocking with a sword and shield before you even consider any armor or CP. so what you sacrifice if you do heavy attack vs what you gain if you manage to successfully heavy attack is so out of balance most dont even risk it. Then when you consider the risk reward for other roles. once again this disparity appears.

but here's to hoping for a brighter future for tanks, or at least a more fun one.
