OP, why do you think?
Because its an OP skill.
I fought a sorc today 1 vs 1 ( as a templar)
That sorc was shield stack + harness magicka+ proxy detonation like there was no tomorrow and my DMG was barley scratching him.
Its a good decision that ZOS as done to that OP class.
Edit:
Those Sorc was able to do both offence and defence at great levels. That's imbalance.

Let me stop you right there. This isn't about PvP. I couldn't care less about Cyrodiil. The shield nerf destroys the sorcerer class in PvE. That's what why we are complaining. How about you drop the inflated, immature PvP ego and realize this game isn't about you. The vast majority of sorc players enjoy playing with their friends in PvE and don't fancy having some kid whine about some mode in the game that causes others to lose the ability to effectively use their class for the other 90% of their game. Some of us only have time for 1 main character (because we have a life and don't vegetate on someone else's sofa) and see this nerf as a big "GAME OVER - THANKS FOR PLAYING" sign.
Having no shield means a drastic loss of DPS, a depletion of resources on healers to keep their more fragile team alive through a needlessly longer boss fight, and a massive strain on tanks to keep literally EVERYTHING off of sorcs, lest they die to single attack.
The shield is to soak up chip damage from adds because any boss damage plus that add damage is lethal. Healers heal sorcs through a newly deployed shield from taking any damage that bled through the previous shield. Sorcs continue their dps rotations, only shielding when hit by an add. With the new change, a sorc can only DPS for a few seconds and then has to use resources/time to reapply a shield. If a sorc gets CC'd, they are dead - period, because the shield duration will kill them before they can reapply it.
Think before you post next time.
So your saying that you used ward as a crutch in group play and now if you get touched your going to die? All the other dps seem to be fine without a 20k shield. Why is it suddenly the sorc class is ruined because they don't have 20 seconds of shield?
I think sorc will be fine. Plenty of good players out there who will still make the sorc class shine.

/facepalm
You are only looking at this from a DPS sorc point of view. Not any other spec. News flash, there are Sorc healers.
OH EM GEE!!!
Yeah those guys are getting ***. They rely on their pets for heals. So the one spec that really needs those pets to stay alive not for DPS, but HEALS, requires conjured Ward... which is now 6 sec... alone with Healing ward. This causes a problem.

that is not inherently true. it depends on the individual playstyle.
Regardless of playstyle, you should be relying on your healer to keep you alive and your mana bar full. Anything less is a DPS loss.

Typical trash response, but perhaps I can educate you. Sorcerers use Light Armor - they have practically no defense - save for that shield, which effectively functions as their health bar. They have no other feasible skills that reduce damage outside of that shield. Templars and Dragonknights have damage mitigation abilities, while the Nightblade has cloak. The sorc has shields - that's the circle of life.
There is no "crutch", kid. PvE doesn't hurt anyone and thus nerfing the shield does nothing but hurt players.
Lowering shield duration isn't the solution for PvP (stacking still exists and prevents crits) and there isn't any issue in PvE with shields. The only people in favor of the shield nerf are:
- People who don't play the sorc class.
- People who play mostly PvP and don't understand the combat math involving shields.
- People who are butthurt children that don't like losing to anything in PvP.

As a Sorc I have to agree with the person you're responding to. Shields don't really affect PvE outside of vMA if you're any good at the class and your healer has half of a brain.
