Questions About the New Crafting Bags

  1. Will the new bags automatically fill themselves with our crafting materials or do we have to move stuff into them manually?
  2. Do all our characters share the same crafting bag (like our bank) or do they have their own individual bags?
  3. Can we access our bags at anytime or do they only work at crafting stations?

1.) They will automatically fill as you log into the character. So you'll have to make sure to log in to each character if you want everything they have to fill into it.
2.) Yes. Its an account based bag. Theres currently a bug with it on PTS where its preventing certain characters from accessing things. But that should be sorted by the time it goes live.
3.) You can access them when you please.

Are you able to add items to them manually?
  • Grimmsplatter
I would like to know which materials can and can't be placed in the bag. Improvement mats? Trait and style stones?

Also, will the bag automatically be available while at a crafting table? Or will I need to anticipate which mats I need before going to a remote table?

From what I have seen on PTS so far, any and ever material related to Crafting goes in the Craft Bag automatically. That includes, raw mats, refined mats, upgrade mats, trait stones, style stones, and even Fishing Bait.

All of the items are available to use at any Crafting Station, and access is shared across your entire account. It's really pretty seamless and is a HUGE space saver.

Sounds great. I'm assuming then that fishing is categorised as 'being at a crafting station' so that you have access to bait much easier across all alts?

OOooo I would not have expected the fishing bait to be added.

I don't have the time to be on PTS right now so thanks to those of you who are kind enough to speed your time answering questions like this.

So if you withdraw any crafting mat from a bank (even a guild bank) it will automatically go into the Crafting Bag?

Is there no manual way to place items into the bag or is it only automatic with no control?

My reading of the info is that on log-in, all crafting mats in inventory and shared bank will move to the Craft Bag. After this, when you harvest, remove attachments in mails or deconstruct, materials will also go to the craft bag.

You can also have the option of 'manually' removing items from the craft bag and add these to your inventory (for example if you want to transfer to the guild bank or mail to someone else). These cannot simply automatically pop back into the craft bag as you'd be in an endless loop and never get the items out ;)
If you pulled the wrong items out you can manually add these back to the craft bag (maximum number that can be moved at a time is 200 to fit the current stack limits in Inventory/Bank/Guild Bank).

@LaucianNailor Yep, when you fish, you have all your Bait availble to use. I hate carrying around 4 kinds of bait and making sure I am stocked up on my characters. I usually end up a place to fish, and don't have the right bait in inventory.

Looks like I'll start fishing again, even though I finished Master Angler. Cool, it's worthwhile to grab insects again.
