    No, it doesn't. It used to count as melee attack some time ago (I think pre IC patch), but not anymore.

    a light attack I thought was simply swing a weapon

    No, it doesn't. It used to count as melee attack some time ago (I think pre IC patch), but not anymore.

    It used to count as melee attack in 1.6. Melee attacks are not nessesarily light or heavy, it means all melee range abilities.
    But it has been fixed anyway.
