Any tips for veteran Maelstrom as a stamblade?

I have almost 300 CP and I use hundings/night mother or hundings/clever alchemist but I can't even kill the first boss. I seem to have an easier time with bow/2H instead of dualwield/ 2H.
If I tried long enough, I could probably be able to defeat him, but I feel like it would be a waste since I probably won't be able to do the second round. My biggest issue seems to be that I have no survivability at all. If anyone has any tips, it would be appreciated.

✭I use Bow/2H. For survivability, I'm running Vigor, Rally, Double Take, and Potions.
My biggest issue in vMA when I first started was low DPS output. Steps to improve your dps will also improve your success in vMA.0
