No new active skill trees?

I don't know about you guys but I am so bored with the skills available. The only non class magic skill lines come, not from you, but from staves. Who's stupid, generic idea was that? Why not have multiple skill lines for the different schools of magic that is canon with the Elder Scrolls?

The lack of skill lines is highlighted by adding new skill lines to the game that are passive (not fun/interactive) and guild exclusive. What if my character is not a thief or assassin? In order to compete equally with other players I have to be?

With classes and these boring new skill lines, diversity and customization seems to be dwindling.

They have enough trouble balancing the current skills so I don't think we'll see a new active skill tree any time soon.

Weapon ultimates would probably come first, then maybe a new weapon type with its own tree.

They said long ago spell crafting was not abandoned when konkle left, im assuming this will be a game changer when implemented.

I do agree though, these skills are old.

Well, there are also the magic guild skills and the soul magic skills...

As for the schools of magic... technically those are canon for the third/fourth era where all the TES games have been set so far, it is plausible that these schoold will only become organized in the time between ESO (which is sort of set shortly after the formation of the mages guild in the first place), and the original TES games...

Non-lorewise, well, it is true that TES games always had an "learn what you wish" approach to magic - but that's for solo player games. For MMOs it makes way more sense to limit that a little so you can have nifty and impressive abilities, and still maintein some diversity instead of everyone and their granny running the same super-effective build in PvP (where it will feel like a clone fight) or PvE (where teamwork becomes an fogotten concept if everyone can do the same)...

    That being said...

YES, it DOES get boring to have no new skills!
Yes, I too would love to see nwew skills!

To be honest, I don't even care about balancing. I just want to have fun. The generic weapons and magic skills and combinations make for very bland characters and gameplay.

I get that mmo's are harder to balance than single player games but that is an excuse, not a reason for having such boring and limiting skill lines.

Hey! Someone else that doesn't give a dang about balance and just wants the game to be "cool"... hey fellow fun haver!
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic. Haha.

My point is, no mmo is ever going to be completely balanced and someone is always going to cry "nerf" this or that. But if the developers try they can make it reasonably balanced and still make the game fun.

Champions online, I know the game has been "dead" forever, but they have such amazing customization and while its not balanced, it is still very fun. Yeah I know this game doesn't compare to that one (genre, gameplay, graphics wise, etc) but the point is balance is always a struggle so why not add diversity?

Spell crafting is very much on the back burner and Zos has specifically said that. I think they turned that burned off so nothing is cooking.

They do really need to add weapon skill lines and more classes. If they cant balance it after 2 years with only 4 classes then it will never ever be balanced and lets face it, no MMO is completely balanced. But 4 classes is really lame to be honest, yes i know you have weapon skill lines but that is kinda just an extension of you class. Some MMOs have 2 weapon skill lines under their class like AOC.

I almost completely agree with you but for the love of God, no more classes! More classes are antithetical!

We need new skill lines! Staves should be melee and destruction and restoration should be free hand spells. That way players who choose to wield a single weapon can use their free hand for magic in the chosen skill line.
