I picked DC at first for a few reasons, one was my friends fave races were here but it wasnt the main reason, since we all had imperial edition

This was a group discussion between my friends so its not just my opinion, so ill try to explain our reasoning

1. Tamriel is currently in a state of war, and King Emeric is a merchant, At the end of the war the economy will fall through with the lack of consumption on wartime materials and the like, and tamriel will need a leader with a strong buisness mind to pull tamriel through those tough times.

2. Skyrim kinda torched our opinion of the dominion, even if they are different in 2nd era, they are just 2 steps away from becoming the 4th era racists in many regards.
The rather irritating player community i have observed on my alts lend more credence to my personal dislike of this faction, no offense meant if you are of that faction and consider yourself a good person, my experiance with AD, aside from the roleplaying crowd, has been universally negative

3. We have spent time in skyrim and morrowind already, as they were the more recent games, but it has been ages since we have spent time in daggerfall and high rock. So we wanted a nostalgic experiance, but were more or less put off by the possiblity of EVERYONE flocking to EP and drowning it in a large population


These were the biggest reasons for choosing DC, and even today, i maintain many of these reasons, even if i have a alt in each faction, DC is home

Daggerfall was my first game, and Bretons are my fav race. So I'm loyal to the Covenant

I expect most aldmeri are youngsters who got hooked by Skyrim or are legolas groupies..and probably like twilight...

Daggerfall players probably are those who dont really like exotic races, a bit boring, they like dull human races or think orks are kool...

Originally, I had a good size crew of friends from Age of Conan all start playing ESO. They had decided to choose DC as the faction of choice. Sadly, not a single one of them plays ESO now... the vast majority of them quit the game within the first 3 months of its release.

Their departure didn't stop me from realizing just how good ESO was and still is! Coming from AoC, ESO had more polish (out the gate) than AoC had in the 6+ years I played.

Whenever I get frustrated with ESO, all I have to do is think about what I endured with AoC and then I feel a lot better about ESO and its future.

When I tried to research the characteristics and motivations of each alliance, all I really got out of it was that all three of them thought they should rule Tamriel because they'd be better at it than the other guys. So that didn't help any.

With nothing else to really go on (aside from some lingering anti-AD bias coming from Skyrim), I just picked races for my characters and that determined what alliance they would be in (since I didn't feel like spending extra money for the Adventurer's Pack). I knew that I wanted my first/main character to be an archer, and I made her a Breton nightblade because I wanted her to focus on siphoning for survivability and I read somewhere that a siphoning-heavy build works better on a character with some extra magicka reserves. I figured the spell resistance mixed in with the magicka boosts was a good compromise rather than going full-out High Elf.

Obviously since I started actually playing the game I've learned more about the intricacies of character-building, but I'm not a hardcore min-maxer so what I've got works for me. And it was nice playing through DC on my first character and getting to know Darien and having all of the DC stuff in my character's background when she moved on to the other alliances.

I still don't really care that much about the alliance war, but I don't feel too bad about backing High King Emeric and the Covenant. I do respect Queen Ayrenn for her platform of racial acceptance and bringing the different races together on more-or-less equal footing, and I haven't properly met King Jorunn yet so I can't really comment on his politics. It is interesting and kind of unfortunate that all three alliances involve historical enemies having to work together, at least temporarily until everything goes to hell again.

Dang that sucks

I wanted to play as a Bosmer and I did not have the "any race, any faction" perk.

I just randomly picked AD I dont know why.
