Is Poison making an alchemy skill?

To me, this will make sense for poison making to fall under alchemy. Is it going to be under that crafting skill or a completely new skill?

I would hope it falls under alchemy. I mean... all they would need was to add an alternate solvent... water for potions, and say... alcohol or oil, or newt salvia or something else for poisons...

If it was not done by means of Alchemy I honestly don't know what else would do it.

They had the posion crafting system since beta, they have it in game already they just need to active it.
I think they on purpose planed to put it into the game with the dark brotherhood content. So basically we will get access to the full alchemy system.

Yep, me too. Ties in well with the whole assassin theme.

However, this will NOT be effective in pvp, but purely for DB quests i bet.

My guess is that the functionality of snakeblood passive will be changed and will directly influence poison making.

Would make sense, right now Alchemy is a little underwhelming as a profession.

I'm hoping that it gives some resistance, like the traditional version of the same. As well it makes sense if poisons start to become excessively prevalent in the game that a counter of some sort might exist, however small.

Ravage magicka is good, but just think how harsh ravage stamina will be to weapon builds. Actually this makes me sad. I think they need to create a separate pool for block/sprint/cc break/etc.

We already have negative effects in most alchemy ingredients, like ravage magicka etc.

All they need to do is create a poison solvent, like how different leveled water is used for potions.

    Vr16 water = lorkhan's tears

Vr16 poison solvent = spider bile? Or something like that
    Bosmer Stamina NB
    Altmer Magicka TEMP
Dunmer DK both stam/mag (depends what I feel like)
    Altmer Magicka NB
    Breton Magicka Sorc
    Redguard Stam Sorc

They don't even need different solvents. You can already make negative effect potions. Should be interesting to see how they make it happen.

But those negative potions can only be applied by drinking them yourself. Which may work if you loose a fight with an army of bosmer, sort of... but generally any smart poisoner would probably prefer to poison the other guy without serving themselves up through meat mandate madness.

Thus the notion of one solvent for potions you use yourself, another solvent to make poisons you use on other people, be it by applying them to your weapon, or perhaps even throwing the vial as ninja-type smoke grenade thing... (or two new solvents, one for each...)

Poison will work in the same way as potions the only difference is that now you can hit enemies with it or drink it.

On a "pour" on your weapon deal so maybe you can drink good potions only and cover your weapons in bad potions only.

IMO poisons should be alchemy skill but applied to weapons as enchants. Only, the enchant disappears entirely when charges run out

It will have to work differently tho....perhaps a 5 minute to 1 hour timer because its doesn't seem logical to have to keep applying something when food buffs and such all last 1-2 hours long at higher levels.

I mean...hey we don't have any indicators other than the character screen and in-game visuals

The cynic in me thinks the lot of you are way way way off the mark. Watch poisons be a unique little mechanic that exists exclusively to function within the confinements of the DB dlc activities.

Seriously though it's becoming increasingly apparent thst these dlc packs are nearly self contained with there own "rides" and offer little to increase the depth of the overall game.

Poisons are either going to be required for DB missions and not exist anywhere else (thus not being tied to the alchemy prof.) Or they will not be needed in any way for DB missions and just be an added mechanic to combat. They will most definitely not be added to both.
