I got this from the website MMORPG.com::

As we stated at the start of this award season, 2015 was all about the existing games getting better, delivering content, and expanding both in terms of content and player-base. In our eyes, no other game has done more to improve its lot and deliver on the wants of its players than Elder Scrolls Online. Not only did Zenimax manage to launch ESO on XB1 and PS4 this year, but they also converted their game to the more viable Buy to Play model. Since then, two massive DLC packs have been released, bringing the Imperial City to life in ESO and just recently the lost Orc city of Orsinium. Since its launch, ESO has done nothing but improve, and we wish all MMORPGs would follow such an aggressive and confident march towards delivering the best possible experience to their players. Cheers to Zenimax Online for Elder Scrolls Online’s banner year.

While this is from 2015,it reads very nicely, and I agree with t hem. This is from a review written by someony who isnt biased either way.Their website is a lways filled with great info.

I think a lot of the people here complaining either need to take a break from the game or come to the realization that its just not for them.

I used to get upset with SWTOR and STO because Im a Star Wars and Star Trek fan. But I eventually realized as big of fans of those franchises. I couldnt change the core issues I had with those games. And the Developers were going in a totally different direction from what I felt the games should. I eventually decided it was in my best interest to find another game to spend my money on. ESO isnt perfect but this is the first game Ive felt like leveling 8 characters when normally I only make 1.

Paying for favourable reviews is nothing new, it's just another form of advertisement.
Did they poll registered members to their site in order to present a fair, accurate and unbias "award"? It's doubtful as it states at the top "Awards by William Murphy".
I imagine the site made a tidy little sum from featuring certain games in their "awards" list page and Mr Murphy was paid for his time and work accordingly.

I agree, that the style sounds more like a PR release than an unbiased view on the state of the game. Something like "an aggressive and confident march towards delivering the best possible experience to their players" is PR lingo, that is not the style an unbiased person would use. And it is not even true, "the best possible experience" - did we get the best possible experience?- I don't think so - it is a tolerable experience with a lot of flaws, but not the best possible. That is PR lingo.

You should question their professionalism every time they refer ESO to an MMORPG.

The thing is.. in game what you see is:

    - new players asking help
    - new playrs enjoy the game
    - old players enjoy the game
    - the number of players actually complaining about the game is about 1% of the ones you're going to find

The Forum lie quite badly making people think that "a lot" of people complains about ESO while in fact the ones complaining are an extremly small minority.

What I don't understand is all these negative comments from so many people, why are they still playing. If they are so unhappy with the game , why are they still here. ( so it can not be that bad )

I love this game and hope they continue with the direction that they are heading. I just started subbing several months ago in anticipation of the Crafting Bags, I wish I had started subbing long before I did.

I do not wish to slam anybody, and I am sorry if I did

Because no matter what you say there's really little alternatives to ESO in the mo market if you want a better game... maybe only 1 or 2 games.

If not for this because people like to complain AND people just want to be heard in a way that they try to force other people to hear and agree with them in every way possible.

I'll just stop with the short explanation i wouldn't want to do a psychology lesson in an mmo's forum lol

    Agreed!

There are some people here that supply constructive criticism with the aim of making improvements to something they enjoy and can seem themselves enjoyed for a while to come and therefore feel it is worth their valuable time to provide feedback.
Then you have the trolls who really should trot off and find some other hobby to spend their time on.

There are times where people start off positive and helpful and over time become twisted and bitter and over time turn into the trolls. Full of some odd sense of entitlement because they somehow have a lack of content in their lives that they can pump 18 hours a day into ESO which therefore makes their views more valid than any other person that has played the game.

In short, if you really do not enjoy it anymore, do not play. The power is in your own hands and nobody is forcing you to face your frustrations over and over.

I take any and all game awards with a truckload of salt.
These awards are nothing but hot air blown by those who pay the most to have their games listed in the spotlight, been so ever since the inception of these sites.

If anybody wants a fair and unbiased opinion and rewiew of the game, one should check out independant reviewers who DON'T earn money off actually showcasing said products. (e.g. Youtube). But rather earn money for people watching the reviews, regardless of their outcome.
Sure in some cases they will be biased too, but a self-respecting reviewer always says that in the disclaimer.
Unlike these sites that will claim that this is the best thing on the planet, your life is not fulfilled unless you play it, baby seals will die if you don't play it etc etc

    OH and...!
Avoid sites that tells you a game is 10/10 before it's even released! Avoid them like a plague, they are nothing more than advertising sites.

The TROLLS were the ones I was talking about. I have no problem about constructive criticism, what I have problem with is those that slam ZOS every time they say something about the game.

Agreed. I think a lot of people become so obsessed with a specific game that they forget the grass isn't as green as they remember it being on the other side. Sure, ESO still has some issues, but it's still one of the better MMOs out there in terms of content and quality. Not to say the others are bad, but there are always ups and downs.

ESO isn't perfect, hell no MMO is. They could do a lot more for their PvP community, but they have some of the best content updates I have seen in any MMO ever, plus they know where they are going with the game in the future, which means we won't end up with long content droughts.

They do need to expand their Quality Control team to avoid breaking the game like they did with Thieves' Guild for 2 weeks (and we are still suffering from that in some places), but I think they do a good job regardless and I don't really get bored of the game, even more so now that I've been going at the new trial a lot.

For the moment ESO is extremely PvE friendly, hopefully they will soon show the PvP side some love. Thankfully the Dark Brotherhood expansion will make IC more of a PvP zone, which will be nice.

I like how they list "Going B2P" as "getting better"... Going B2P is never an improvement to the players that are already playing a game. It's 100% always a detriment to them.

Does it open the game to more players? Sure. It is more profitable for the company? Absolutely. Does it make the game more "viable"? Yes, but only because it's more profitable for the company.

Given this, do I understand why they did it? Completely.

Did it improve my enjoyment of the game? Not at all. Just the opposite, as it changed the game for the worse, IMO.

I thoroughly enjoy this game, and I will continue to play it for a long while I imagine.

That said, I agree with the article up to the point where they talk about DLC's. From June (console release, console perspective) to September ESO was outstanding. I had more friends online in this game than I could run with, lag wasn't a problem, we all were still chasing V14. September rolled around, and the **** storm of IC came in, introduced terrible lag, long load screens, bugs, raised a level cap that majority of players hadn't even reached the previous, and made content obsolete that most of us hadn't even been able to try.

So, yea, for 3 months, this was the best game around, in any genre, but that was just a 3 month span.
