I'd upgrade my Xbox one in a heartbeat even if it's just the system and no games are updated because a smoother experience with no freezing or crashing is going to be good. ...

Where exactly are you freezing, ie. any specific games or apps? I've only had 1-2 crashes with my X1, and enjoy the console since day one.
I have more crashes with my PS4, but only with ESO and in a party / group.

Sadly it's often in this game in towns with the undaunted quest givers regardless of faction.

Anytime in Weothgar by the portal headed towards the crates and boxes.

Other games like BF4, Destiny, GTA V online.
(Keep in mind I'm often in a non-retail mode testing and or previewing updates not public)
TV via snap just slows FPS to a crawl (on TV) and per the Xbox dev team, they've added a lot but the win10 update has caused many of the problems I'm experiencing.

According to what I saw in one of the gameranx vids the ps4.5 as it's currently named will pretty much just have a better gpu so they can run 4k.
As i understand it you won't need to pruchase any game over or any of that. You just pop in your game you used on ps4 and it'll work. Now the looking better part will of course be up to the game devs. If they feel they want to make a uhd version of their game or a patch to a game for it to be uhd then we'll see that happening, but a lot of game developers are already saying they hate the idea of an upgraded console due to it making them have to essentially design two versions of the same game if they want to make use of the new gpu capability.
The whole point behind a console is that you buy it and for the next 5 years at least you'll be able to play games hasstle free. No worries about will it run on my console like you get with pc.
I won't be getting any of the upgraded models anytime soon. I rather just wait for the next generation.

The only viable upgrade they'll actually do is make the PS4 able to stream 4k(YouTube and Netflix 4k capable). They wouldn't dare invest money on new hardware so soon, to make a PS4 2.0 and split their player base up by beefing up its hardware completely.

The current GPU in the PS4 is capable of outputting 4k media, but it's max res is locked @ 1080p. This is all they would be doing for major hardware/software updates. Adding HDMI 2.0.

Maybe a few additions to it's cooling system and change the way it looks, like a ps4 slim or something. But that's about it.

No graphical power increase, no upgrade on its memory. Theyll keep all the hardware the same and just tweak it a bit at best to stay up to date with this whole 4k jargen going on.

Ps4 game graphics will stay the same and so will in game resolution.

While I understand that until Sony releases "Official" specs, all we have is rough speculation; there are a couple troubling things about the early info.

    1) They increased everything BUT the RAM? Makes no sense, but it might not end up being as big of an issue as my mind makes it out to be.
    2) Early reports state that every developer will have to create two versions of every game. One for the regular PS4, and one that fully utilizes the "Neo"'s beefier stats. While this might not seem like a huge deal, there's a huge kick in the nuts for Gamers who don't see the point of buying a new console a mere three years after this last one launched. It's the unspoken "your game looks good on the PS4, but it would look better...".
    3) With the current console generation still so new (relatively speaking), this really has a significant chance of angrily splitting the consumer base. Same with Microsoft.

Now, as @Nestor and I mentioned earlier; the One and PS4 are both back on a more traditional X86 architecture, which makes them more like embedded PC's than consoles in the past. With most PC parts being "plug and play" in modern day, there's every chance that upgradable consoles are on their way. Indeed, the head of the Xbox Division (Phil Spencer) even said as much in a recent interview.

Being able to buy one box, then upgrade it for well longer than a console would normally exist on the market, I feel would be highly attractive to many console Gamers. Plus; modular upgrades would also be infinitely cheaper to produce, sell, and would be much more attractive to the consumer than paying $400-$500 every three-five years.

If this is the direction Microsoft sticks with and Sony (hopefully) adopts in the future, then I could be all on-board with newer console versions this early. If this is not the case, or is still 5+ years out but they're releasing new console versions anyway, then I cannot get behind a new console version/generation right now.

    a source called Giant Bimb?
This source also immediately refers to all of this being just "rumors".

When IGN, PCGamer, or heck even Sony, Microsoft spill the beans is when I'll say it is true.

This is no different than future ideas for ESO.

Rumors may sound good, certainly! But I don't believe them.

Sony has never fully upgraded its hardware so soon, in any of their previous console models.
Why start now when your customer base is as strong as ever? Doesn't make sense at all.
