I really don't see where ESO is failing.. of course it is not a perfect game but... it still does almost everything much more better than the majority (just so i don't say "all" since people would just attack the word) of the mmo on the market.

As far as bug goes.. i really didn't experience any major bug until now and i'm always quite surprised when i read people complaining about hundreds of bugs because well.. i just never saw them.

The only "flaws" i've found until now is about the class system, the fact that magic schools doesn't exist and the lack of a 1vs1 / team PvP Arena like the one in ES Oblibion (but i keep my hopes up for the future at least on the arena) and that's it... but i still enjoy the game and even if i take breaks ESO is actually the only mmo i feel like i want to come back to every single time no matter what other mmo i try.

I can feel your pain when it comes to the mage guild - when the guy in the mage guild explained to me, that they are "kind of book hunters" I thought "WTF, this is ridiculous, where are the spells to learn and craft" - but well, that is a design decision, which I find quite lazy tbh, book hunters, really?

You know it just happened to me that this might be lore wise decision - let me elaborate it:

At this time of the Second Era, the most prominent guilds have only a couple centuries of research and accomplishments. The mages guild being an organisation founded by Galerion, who disagreed with the Psijiic exclusive policy in the seek of magic knowledge, decided for a more liberal approach and that of course, raised more than just suspicion in the empire at that time.

So to avoid any complication to its existence, the guild over-cautious acts assured them that the emperors trust wouldn't be affected by any of their studies and that nothing would hurt the guild legal reputation.

Meanwhile, they try to deal with an internal issue regarding one of the Daedric princes, an issue that could surely wipe every living creature from existence but those are far-off rumors. Officially, they are just old book lovers.

Plus, this young state of the magic research within the empire also validates the lack of proper magical schools and the overall little option regarding spells available in comparison to other TES games as it is fair to assume many of them haven't even be discovered yet or are just poorly understood.

Yes, PvP needs attention but I think the PvE, for a two year old MMO, is as good as anything currently out there of the same timeframe. (With the exception of VR levels) so no, I don't think a bad DB would be the death of ESO but I don't think anybody can objectively claim there isn't work to be done.

    I have faith.

For me DB is just the beginning. I am more excited for housing and to have DB will mean all the expected guilds are finally in the game and we can start looking a bit more forward.

This game is mediocre at best. But it's the only type like it on console other then DCUO and Final Fantasy. It is what they made it. Adding DB won' t fix that or any other expansion. But will the game be shut down, doubt it. A lot of ppl make this post for every MMO out there. And the only game that ever shut down completely was SWG. Epic Fail...

For me, if the DB is not successful, I will not put down ESO right there and then put I will certainly keep my eyes open for similar games. To me the Thieves Guild felt like a base game patch I had to pay for, the new trial is awesome, kudos to the dev team on that but for it to be in my opinion the biggest highlight of the entire DLC it kind of stinks since nothing really is paired with it.. Myself and everyone else I know really only have time on the weekends to do 12 man raids, so again it is awesome but by know means was I wowed by The Thieves Guild overall was pretty disappointing, I don't care much for quests, I want hard PVE and playable PVP, ICP was an awesome DLC, dungeons and the release of the sewers..

Last chance? Nowadays, everything seems to be ZOS's "last chance". I honestly can't bother to keep up anymore. Claims of ZOS's "last chance" come up just about every other month, and are no better than "X game will KILL ESO" threads.

Wildstar is coming, this is ZOS's last chance!
Black Desert Online is coming, this is ZOS's last chance!
Soft caps were removed, this is your last chance ZOS!
PvP sucks ZOS! Imperial City is your last chance!
PvP portion of the Justice System was scrapped! This your last chance ZOS!
CPs are unbalanced! This is your last chance, ZOS!

Blah, blah, blah. If you really want me to take any "last chance" theories seriously, then you have to come up with really really good evidence as to why. All of the prior examples have had "evidence" too, and well....there is a reason ESO is still here and kicking.

Like, I'll agree that maybe DB will be lackluster. Or maybe it'll be shown that it wasn't as ideal as we thought it would be. But it being ZOS's "last chance"? I can't help but scoff at that notion. I don't see why DB will any different than other 'last chance' claims. As with others, the DB DLC will not be the end-all-be-all of ESO, nor should it be. It will simply fail or succeed on its own merits, and as it had done with others, ESO will simply keep on going as they go onto the next DLC.

Well, you already stated "the reason" and the last chance is the players that are still playing this game by which they are very disapointed with the recent patches.

So if more old players leave this game they might give a negative impression to the newer audience and that will kill this game for good.

I mean which AAA MMO game will sell imbalance, buggy and laggy experience to its customers.....

In my case, I don't have any issue with the game so I will stick till dark brotherhood or so on, if it is not going to be disappointing...

Otherwise zos can do is make their game more sexier like blade and soul. It will sell well regardless of all those bugs and imbalance

Like thief guild the dark brotherhood (and the Morag Tong in Morrowind) had their fans in former games. And for those any TES game is incomplete without those guilds and they enjoy being a member of those guilds. It is not for everyone though, that is why it is in a DLC, I guess, that those, who are not interested into this kind of game play can just let it go and don't buy the DLC. ESO+ members have access anyway, and for some it might be enough to just go for the thief troves without to ever join the guild. But they will still enjoy the scenery of Hew's Bane and Abah's landing without to be a guild member.

I actually doubt that TG DLC was not a success, I think a lot enjoy it and will enjoy the game play delivered with it. Not everyone needs huge rewards to enjoy some game play, some do it as kind of a hobby and if there are some nice pieces to gain now and then (and there are for thiefs), then this is fine and they enjoy doing that. And for someone like me, who is just a low level still, this is game play which I have to repeat and like to repeat in order to upgrade my nightmother and darkstride sets according to my level. In thief troves those are scaled down to level and I have to upgrade these sets now and then and so these thief troves will keep me busy for a while. And I really enjoy the 2m detection range reduction of the NM set.

IMO these thief troves have something nice in stock for thievery especially on lower levels. I doubt that it is not successful.

Its not that thieves guild is not good but its disappointing compared to skyrim, why?
Well its missing the daedra princes/lords in it.

    Edit:
As well the passive and active ability for combat.

to me, i give every mmo 5 years, even if i dont sub for those years, i still follow it, each mmo has this amount of time to add the things that i, and many others, asked for at launch to close to it

for eso, if, at the 5 year mark, i dont see
    1.spellcrafting
    2.jewelcrafting
    3.playerhousing
    4.more quests for vanilla guilds

it i dont see at least 2 of these, i will leave and not look back

i give 5 years, for a few reasons,
no mmo is good at launch, companies simply dont want to give the devs time to make it great before launch or want to gouge people with dlc
if it does change for the better in 5 years, then those that are impatient and/or are 'd-bags' have left leaving mostly rational players
give the leete-sts time to move on to another game, most leet-ests get really got at it, then leave for another game, thats my experiance at least

some of you may not have the patience i do, and thats fine, but you should always check in on mmo's you have played every now and again, some evolve slowly, some quickly. some deserve a second chance.

even if you leave now, keep an eye on eso, someday it may have all that you wanted it to have

oh well.. if ZOS continue with the strategy of best gear are DLC exclusive thanks to BoP - vMA weapons, SPC for healer etc
And maybe add to that where players with house gets some sort of advantage buffs over players without houses
and the long unfixed horrible PvP experience in ESO it'll go quite bad

I would say you are right, if it would not be Elder Scrolls - ESO is not following the scheme of a normal MMO and I guess the majority of players would not bother if PvP would cease to be, because those come from a single player game and are most likely not into competitive game play. All they want to do is sightseeing with exploration and a little bit of combat. Just like TES games are - role play games do not have challenging combat, it is just an ingredient, not the main thing in an RPG. In that they differ from FPS games. And that is why ESO will not suffer from when the PvP crowd would leave. Some will even say "finally" and sigh in relieve. What ESO would have needed is cooperative game play in PvE and that is not well done as it is. But it will get better with scaleable regions, where people with far different levels can play with each other. This is the concept they are following now - scalable content with cooperative game play and solo playability, rather than competitive game play.

Edit:; role player like diversity, not meta builds - they go for hybrid builds, which make them different, they do not want to be like anyone else is as well. And with hybrid builds the PvE content is challenging enough - well, maybe not with CP in place, but in the first play through without those it is.

This one is less concerned about what the DB may or may not contain as this one is concerned about how quiet it is round here.

ESO Live appears to have been put on the back burner, there has been no news, no maintenance, no patching.

Santie does not like to recall such memories but the last time there was such a long quiet spell was right before the big change - you know what khajiit refers to ...

This one recalls it oh so clearly because she saw a tweet from another gaming site and was the one to post here first that what we had all so long speculated on had come to pass.

Khajiit wonders if there is something else in the bag that we do not yet expect.

If it is quiet because everyone has the holiday then that is fine. Khajiit likes holidays.

Khajiit also likes a little news also too and her whiskers are starting to tingle a little in an edgy sort of way at the lack of it.
