CROWN STORE!: pay for this skin or quality of life thingy for 4000 crowns. Four. Thousand. Crowns.
yeah DLC's or expansions sure, justified. But 4000 crowns for a freaking motif that isn't even that great looking (I know that's subjective, but it does not look like that detailed to me).
come on guys! this is crazy! I know it's a business but you guys make it too obvious what your #1 priority is.
I know people on forums over react to stuff but this just looks so bad and greedy. Makes the company look totally desperate for cash.
just reminds me of the greedy release with 1 gold per mob and 42k horse price debacle

If a bunch of spoiled brats want to buy multiple cat skins and useless motifs from the crown store and fund my next DLC, I am all for it.

Ah dear sweet Emily. Sweeping generalizations are for the ignorant. Some people have jobs that afford them the privilege and joy of buying useless cat skins and motifs.

perfect world/ sto like in order to get anything worth while you either have to grind with many charaters to get the in game currency or pay like fifty dollars and typically one ship might cost at least 60 dollars worth of zen. Yeah they truely are greedy. But then you got Swtor that basically extorts money forcing you to sub, because free to play basically limits the game play.
You can't even really get quest rewards without subbing. That and you have currency limit that basically requires you to buy this thing in order to get more currency because its stored in this bank thing til you sub. Subbing unlocks swotor the full gameplay experience.
Elder Scrolls online is much cheaper on the wallet, that and they don't seem to be that greedy, they do care about the game and refuse to go pay to win as well as everything you have access too in the crowns store can be found in game as well. except the outfits and pets and mounts. Maybe only a couple of armor sets you have to have the dlc in order to get otherwise you could still get those armor sets even without the dlc. This game is the best mmo out there right now.
Honestly? If they want to make money off people that find joy in the game by buying costumes and various horse skins so that I can spend less to play, why the hell not? I've never really had an issue with ESO's cash shop other than prices on a some items. (assistants) I don't think micro transactions are going anywhere though OP. Even sub games seem to be adding them.

nothing against cash shops, with reasonable pricing - but when greed is so blantantly obvious, it can *** off people and they might just stop subscribing.

A couple of bottles of water at Disney World is like $10, yet the park is still full everyday. They will change their ways only when it is economically necessary. If people keep buying the $5k assistants, they will continue to cost $5k.
But that's just it. Compared to most every other MMO on the market, ESO isn't nearly as cash-shop-oriented as their competitors are.Honestly? Yes, and they loose all those people, who would have gladly paid 1.5k - and those might be more than 3.5 times those, who bought it for 5k - they are loosing money, by not making the most they could, if they would just be less greedy.

As other people have mentioned;
- You must Sub or regularly spend cash in SWtOR to do much of anything in that game.
- Black Desert Online? ... By the GODS their stuff is expensive...
- LotRO? While it's not nearly as bad as SWtOR or BDO, there are definitely some higher priced options and definitely more than a few P2W options there.
- GW2? Yeah...
By comparison, Zenimax is pretty classy and low-key in their promotions for the Crown Store. Lower priced too I might add.
If ESO is being "blatant" in their cash shop promotions, I recommend that you never fire up any other MMO...
