console numbers wrong.

Hi I'm on xbox one and noticed something with the numbers isn't right. Orange numbers represent a dot, white numbers a normal hit, seems fine so far.
Then I used elemental blockade, when something is hit by it white numbers show up. This surprised me as I assumed it was a dot. So off I went and equipped my nerieneth set and used only elemental blockade on mobs for a few mins, 0 nerieneth procs. For testing sake I then equipped my valkyn skoria set and tried the same again using only elemental blockade. This time I had a lot of skoria procs even though the numbers did not indicate a dot was in use.

If the damage numbers don't work correctly like this we on console are still reliant on PC users information from add ons or we must spend the time to test every single skill we have like this as the numbers cannot be trusted.

Any one else come across oddities like this?

Orange is something like a burn effect, white is normal yellow is crit. Doesn't matter if it's a dot attack it'll be the same display as a regular attack.

Mmm not always the case, some abilities such as rapid strikes will tick as orange numbers during the DoT portion of the cast, and will count as a single hit on the final strike.

elemental blockade is a damage over time so I believe , hence no nerienth procs.

Though yellow numbers were a crit..

Seems stupid to have dots same colour as normal hits giving us no way to differentiate and so again making us rely on PC add ons. Sure I've had skills that do not use fire damage, such as refreshing pathway which show up orange, which led me to believe orange was a dot since it didn't occur to me that the numbers would not show the difference between dots and normal hits as that's just stupid.

Poison injection DoT show up as orange... so orange, as far as I know, is DoT

Quoting a great and informative ZOS post.
We use color, punctuation, and position to communicate the type of event in combat text. Color tells part of the story but isn’t fully accessible for everyone, so we use contextual positioning and punctuation to reinforce what color is communicating.

    Here’s a breakdown:

    Color
    White: Outgoing damage
    Yellow: Outgoing critical damage
    Orange: Outgoing damage over time
    Red: Incoming damage
    Green: Healing
    Tan: Crowd Control

    Punctuation
    * : Blocked damage
! : Critical damage and healing
    ( ) : Absorbed

    Position
    Left of player: Incoming damage
    Right of player: Incoming healing
Bottom right of player: Incoming crowd control
Inside player: Incoming damage over time
    Above target: Outgoing damage
Inside target: Outgoing damage over time
Right of target: Outgoing crowd control
    Above friendly target: Outgoing healing

Here’s a visual breakdown of the color and punctuation:

Yes yellow numbers are crits. I thought orange were dots as, refreshing path, poison injection and others I don't recall (not at the console to test atm) all show orange damage. Yet blockade shows white damage.
