Who agrees quality of life stuff should come before content patches?

If someone wants to make a poll for this. I would like to see where most players stand. Would they prefer to keep having these small dlc's coming out every 4 months or so, or would they rather have barber shop, paid faction/race change? And other things like a better wardrobe system, something similar to WoW's transmog system. I would also prefer battlegrounds to make it into the game before more pve does.

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

If they stopped DLC to focus purely on performance etc then how will they pay their staff?

More DLCs and improve PvP lag or whatever the issue is.

I could care less about barber shops and race changes costumes etc.

With the hundreds of millions they made off of B2P console copies sold at $60 each. ;)

    I want more pve content.

After that or along with that a side of barbershop, crafting bags and/or housing.

I dont care about race chg, faction chg or that stuff when i csn delete char and restart for free.

    I dont care about battlegrounds.

Aa revamped solo enabled scaling Craglorn or more robust promotion of older gear sets... those i would like.

I would like bug fixes(and performance issues fixes as well).
More importantly though, ZOS would just like another small solo questing DLC with moar mounts and costumes added to the Crown Store for people to spend money on, and f*ck bug fixes because who'd pay for those, right(I would mind you. Much moreso than I do for costumes/mounts/moar solo questing(which I don 't))? -___-

Relying solely on that is not a good idea. It will be a very stupid idea to stop releasing DLC's full stop. Whoever disagrees clearly doesn't understand how a business works.

Its no longer in question, there is 2 years worth of bugs on the game that are long due to be fixed thousands of issues regarding performance plague the game it need to be fixed instead of adding more bugs to the bug soup.

I agree. I want this to happen and the stuff I mentioned in the op before a new pve questing zone comes out.

I think that the two things are the same. The barber shop and housing and other things like this that are mentioned will be in quarterly updates and might be DLC content.

As to whether they should stop rolling out new stuff, including all of the stuff mentioned above, until they fix things... I think that this is not a reasonable request. They should work on both at the same time. This is likely the best use of studio resources.

They should do QoL improvements at the same time as putting out DLC.

The problem here is that 'quality of life' is different for the different aspects of the game. For PVP, the quality of life would be to fix Cyrodil. For the PVE players, it is more quests. For the RP community, it is housing and cosmetic things.

That's not what the generally accepted definition of quality of life means. It's bug fixing/UI revamping/general fixes.... Well quality of life lol. Fixing the lag is a QoL issue. Changing the trade merchant UI is a QoL issue.

More quests and housing are not. This coming from a guy doing no PvP, si I'm not biased.

I understand the need to keep rolling out DLC, but it would be nice to see at least a bit more focus on fixing the problems that have been introduced by each release (speaking as an xbox one user).

I can't remember the last time I was in Cyrodiil that I did not get dashboarded at least once (I consider myself lucky if it's just once), and - I don't know if it's related or not - each DLC just seems to make the problem worse. Now I seem to lose chat randomly whenever I try to switch between group and guild chat, and I'm unable to use guild traders roughly 50% of the time I try to purchase something ("Too many searches..." notifications, even if I only perform one search).

These are probably things that are not easily fixed, but it would be nice to at least feel like someone is working on them...

I'm pretty sure they'd be in a good place to actually fix the game since all the DLC they are releasing now was made with our subs in 2014. Imperial City (which was stated would have capturable districts), Wrothgar, Thieves Guild, Murkmire, Dark Brotherhood, Glass Armor, Xivkyn armor were shown at Quakecon in 2014 either complete or in concept art along with Spell Crafting which seems to have been permanently sidelined.

Feel free to watch this or just skim through it...
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gNVxn80j4g

So yeah all this great DLC and armor...paid for with the 2014 subs and they held it back knowing the game was going buy to play so they could sell it as DLC.

I for one say let the performance patches take priority a while since they have made the DLC for at least 2017 already.

I would seriously pay 2000 Crowns for a "DLC" that was nothing more than a compilation of all of the Quality-of-Life stuff that I currently have to get from addons.

ZOS has gone two years adding content and basically doing just enough bug "fixes" to keep the game relatively stable without actually improving it. I think now is a good time to start dealing with the long standing bugs and performance issues before dropping more content down.

That isn't exactly how things work. While I will agree that these things have been delayed, due to a number of factors, not the least of which is the Console release, content takes time to develop. Most of the DLC we get for a game, and Fallout 4 is probably a good example, are likely created before launch and either polished or shelved until release date. ESO is no different, and this is why they could show things in 2014. Not finished things, mind you, but early development things. Facades. Built for looks and used for promotional purposes.

We really don't know how far along any of those things actually were. The short clips and images that we see imply more is there, but that might not be the case. People who see this stuff and believe that these things were all finished, or even close to a condition where they could be released, back in 2014, might be very very wrong.

It is this lead time that has a lot of us wondering what happens after Clockwork City, Murkmire, and Mephala's Realm. As customers, we live mostly in the present, as far as ESO is concerned. We never get a glimpse into the future beyond a few weeks. At least, not any glimpse that matters. They have closed all the curtains and pulled all the shades.

Realistically they need to do both to keep people happy.

Especially because 'quality of life' updates can be pretty ambiguous. What one person considers a glaring issue that desperately needs to be fixed to make playing tolerable another person will have never noticed and a 3rd may actually like.

So if it was fixed you've then got 1 person happy, one at best indifferent (on this forum more likely furious that they wasted time on something so trivial) and a 3rd unhappy about the change. Including new content in the same patch means at least player 2 has something to be happy about (and can see that they weren't devoting all of their resources to this trivial fix) and it may even compensate player 3 by giving them something else to do.

Of course the proportions in each group will vary depending on the issue in question, but you're never going to find one issue that absolutely everyone agrees on. (Even something big like lag and crashes in PvP, plenty of people never go into Cydrodiil so they don't care, and some have at least claimed to be in favour of 'fixing' it by removing PvP from the game, so we can then get other 'quality of life' improvements like not segregating players by alliance.)

I doubt that even covered the initial development cost. 'A' category stars doings the voice acting isn't cheap.

To answer your question OP- There has been a poll on this and the majority voted to prioritize performance over content. I for one agree with this and would happily sacrifice dark brotherhood and be ok with it being pushed back one quarter.

I'd be happier with less frequent But larger DLCs and more constant updates, fixes and improvements to the games functionality.
