Why can't we *** gain cp while lvling new alts?

The cp grind prevents me from playing my *** alts. Im at 103 cp on my v16 toon but I want to play my lvl 3 sorc. But it sucks because we don't gain cp.

Having a bad day, are we? The Champion Point system was designed to replace Veteran Ranks. It makes sense that it does not kick in until you reach level 50. To turn this around, would you have expected to gain Veteran Ranks before you hit level 50?

Your 103 points are accessible on all your characters, I learned that when making my second and noticed I had a crap ton of points to use. You get the downside of only earning CP after Lvl50 but the bonus of being able to use them on a brand new character.

Honestly it does not take that long to get an Alt to VR1. Less then a week if all youre doing is grinding and just about a week or a little more if youre questing.

Bolded/italcized is the entirety of the reason.
It will all make more sense once Vet ranks are dropped.

    Anyways...

Your character is only a Champion once he/she reaches lvl 50, so it makes sense that CP progression should start at max lvl. Even if the character is an alt

Well take heart in the fact that you can store up to 12(?) days worth of inspiration. So you can play your low level alt for a long time and then switch to your main (if you didn't hit vet in that time) and rack up some fast champion points!

Remember, you accrue enlightenment when either logged out or when on a non-vet toon. So, your time on an alt isn't wasted since you will accrue enlightenment and get CPs that much quicker when either on your vet toon or once your alt hits vet. Not that you don't already get CPs at a breakneck speed with the catch up mechanism and only 103 CP.

I may be wrong, but I believe you can accrue up to 14 days enlightenment.

Does the amount of XP required for 1 to 50 even suffice for 1 CP?

Apparently it does. 1 to 50 nets you a whopping 3.8 cp. Totally worth it.

There's the answer right there. Even if you did get cp from 1 to 50, you wouldn't even get 4 whole points. Not worth bothering at all. Better to let enlightenment build up while you level from 1 to 50 then use that stored up enlightenment when you hit V1. The alternative the OP asks for might actually be mathematically worse depending on how long it takes someone to go from one to 50.

Math hard. I managed to mess it up. It's actually 2.8, not 3.8 cp.

If we hit 50 on one character on our account then it should unlock the ability to earn CP's on any characters doing anything. Its arbitrary to make us level a alt to 50 before it can earn CP's. This is the main reason I haven't leveled any alts.

Did you not read the few posts before yours? Is it really worth that grand total of 2.8 cp's you would earn from 1-50 if they allowed it?

I actually focused on leveling my alts not that long ago so that when I decided to play them I would also be earning CP on them, plus they could start accruing enlightenment while I wasn't playing them. I was surprised that it really didn't take me long at all to hit VR1, because it seemed to take forever on my first character (of course, I spent a lot more time exploring and gathering mats while leveling her, so that might be why). But yeah, I don't see why non-vet characters should be earning CP, especially when you consider how few they'd get anyway.

And it's not arbitrary. As mentioned, Champion Points were (and maybe still are?) the mechanism to replace vet ranks, so why should non-vet (under 50) characters be able to earn them? They already can use the ones you've earned on other characters, I think that's generous enough.

I've asked this before... I take it even one step further: Let us gain CPs from level 1 on any character.

Of course, I think CPs shouldn't be used for things like gear requirement or provisioning levels. I disagree with this design, but ZOS isn't going to change their minds now.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Your CP gained makes your lower level Alts level faster, much faster if you focus them heavily on more damage and recovery that you can breeze through content marginally faster than a character that doesn't have any CP at all.

It's ridiculous easy to level an alt to 50. Players have done it in less than a day. If you go through every quest in every zone, you should be at level 50 in zone 5 or 6, before you get to Cold Harbor. If you use XP scrolls or pots, you don't even have to do any quests but the main ones that give skill points. Add in a little time in DLC and you are level 50 in no time. If you didn't take advantage of the anniversary cake, shame on you.
The only ones with a real complaint about CP are those of us who are CP capped. I'm happy to play my low level alts, so I don't have to see yet another CP that I can't use.

Play veteran character until using up enlightment, then play non-veteran character to level. That's how I did it back before all my eight were veterans...

But the thing is, you get normal levels until 50, and then the system switches over to c-points (well, right now there is still the dual system with VR and CP, but... you get the idea...). Pre-50 gain levels for your expees, post-50 gain CP for your expees. Easy to get, right? Getting loads of CP is super easy when you have none anyhow, thanks to catchup. Asking for even more... for gaining them while levelling your lowbies... is somewhat greedy IMO...

Like I mentioned the first time the OP made a thread about this very matter... if anything, playing lowbies should maaaaybe extend enlightment time. Which is almost as good as earning CP, but keeping the earning times strictly apart per character...
