[Vet ICP] Ibomez the Flesh Sculptor pool phase?

If you Jesus Beam the boss in the first pool phase you deal no damage, later, if you try again while he's in execute you can actually deal (reduced?) damage and skip the last part of the fight.
Is this an intended mechanic? Seems strange.

i think he just has a huge damage shield when he goes to pool. when he's in execute range. jesus beam will do damage.albeit small damage. but it will finish him. ive done this on my templar numerous times.

It's just strange, I was able to deal 20k with RD ticks, that's <50% of my usual damage for targets under 20% hp.
More than a shield it looks like increased resistance, still it doesn't explain why only when he's in execute and only with the Jesus Beam.
