Hit V10 and I've made some mistakes...

SueDeNimes
I first bought ESO some time ago. I played until I got to about Lvl38ish. I stopped playing because, well I don't know why. Anyway, I've been playing again and really enjoying things. I've managed to get myself to V10 and enjoyed the journey.

The thing is, I think I might have made some mistakes with my build. I'm a Dunmer DK. Currently I am wearing heavy armour and I'm using two handed weapons in a DPS build (stamina). I don't know, it kind of made sense for levelling. I've got Sword and Shield to 50. I've got Two handed to 38. I think I could easily respec into either of those.

I'm not sure what I should be working to at end game and I kind of feel I am in a bit of dead end. I'm very open to respeccing. At the moment I am working though the end of Cadwells Silver and I am overlevel for it. I'll move onto Gold afterwards. I'm of a mind that this could be the time to cross train into something else. What should I do?

I kind of think tanking is the most logical move to make. Am I right? Any builds anyone can suggest I should work with? I've like to focus on getting the mechanics right while I am working though Silver and Gold.

You could add the bow skill line for ranged attacks. You'll be able to level it quickly if you just remember to switch to the bow, and its skill line when turning in quests.

OP I do not believe you made any mistakes. Seems like you haven't had something 'click' with you just yet that you really want to pursue. That is OK. Everyone runs into that.

Just narrow down what you like doing on your DK and then focus on making that stronger. You should tell us what you like doing on your DK. You'd probably get a more honed in response to what you're shopping for.

Ninja edit: To add; The only time anything should be wrong, is when you feel like what you are doing does not suit your interests anymore. This is when you should change up how you play. At the end of the day though, the only one who gets the final say-so on how your character gets laid out is you and only should be you.

There are pretty much two real mistakes you can make in this game regarding your character, and that's your race, and faction. Don't worry.
Dunmer DK is very open, you can do any role you want with one.

If you're OK with your basic choice (race and class) just level all other weapon and armor lines and find a combo that works for you.

My dedicated PvP character has everything at 50, all class lines, all weapon lines and all armor lines.
That makes it super easy to change roles and respec. I also have different armor/weapon sets that go with different roles.

Dunmer DK is a great combo for magika fire build. The only thing you need -respec to magika and level light armor and destro. It will not take too long time on vr10 especcially with training destro/la

you rolled a dunmer DK, not even close to being wrong. thats actually ideal for either stamina or magicka.

I quite enjoy how I am playing my DK. I just ended up in a random vet dungeon rather than a random normal dungeon one day. Group fell apart as we were not putting out enough DPS.

I like wearing heavy armour, but if it won't do enough DPS I'll need to change.

You could just keep heavy for questing.

Just make a set of medium for if you go into a dungeon. Are you using set items at all?

Hunding's and ashen grip or night silence should do you fine for now.

If you like the heavy armor dps play style. That's fine. But you have to gear for it. Note you won't stand up with a med armor dk in dps but you can get close. Stack wep dmg. Lots of it. That way even if you don't crit. You still hit like a truck. Note. If you want to tank. You can very easy tank duel wield dot bar and snb on a dk. Your dps will be good and you will soak it up cause well your a dk :)

Stam dk dps would be a great choice. You would have to go med armor tho. If you want to go heavy armor, spec for tanking with S&B.

If you are concerned about not having leveled the right skills, don't be. There are plenty of skill points available to level new skill lines before even going down respec path. One trick is to keep a bar loaded with skills that are being trained. Switch to this bar when you turn in quests, writs, etc. I've leveled many skills to 50 without having ever used them using this method. As to your Dummer DK, it should be fine. I'm currently leveling the same. I'm focusing on fire, since the racial passives give extra fire damage.

I have vet 16 stamina DK's (Imperial and Dummer)........no big difference really. Both are built for weapon damage/crit/stamina regen.........both are VERY GOOD killers.

Med armor/2h/DW/bow.......level all three weapon skills.

Honestly as long as you enjoy your class and are happy with your race I think you are totally on the right track. For example, I wanted to be a sorcerer and I enjoy the orcs so that is what I am. Is it 100% the best choice? Absolutely not, but I am happy with it and make it work.

Once you have that down, it is a good idea to decide what type of role you would like to play in end game content such as a healer, a tank, or damage dealer. There are numerous guides to help you with a build once you know that as well.

For now though, you are leveling so by all means level whatever you like. Honestly anything/everything! When I played 1-50 I leveled my class skills, heavy armor, and sword and shield. For Cadwell silver I played around with medium armor a bow and a 2 hander. For gold I leveled light and the two staves. You will have TONS of skill points as you quest and hunt down skyshards and once you hit cap then you can worry about fine tuning your build.

I say enjoy the ride and play how ya want for now and worry about min/maxing later. However, that is simply my two septims!
