I didn't realize it mattered. I thought the final pinion doesn't appear until all the spawns have been killed. That's how it seems to work when I solo them.
Same. As someone mentioned above, I also didn't think the fourth pinion even opened up until all the daedra were dead. Each pinion takes a certain number of daedric animi to activate, so I assumed the number required was directly related to the number of enemies, such that more players > more enemies > more required for pinion.Scheneighnay wrote: »Depends what everyone else is doing- if they're going after pinions, I'll cover them.
If they're slaughtering everything, I usually can't even get a hit in, so go after the pinions
Obviously you cannot touch a single pinion until everything is dead. Only way to get a general

For example, I've been told (i.e. screamed at in voice chat) by multiple people that you only kill the "trash deadra" until forth pinion pops, and then kill the rest. That supposedly increases the chance of a "rare chest" which contains rare motifs and purple gear. And that closing even one pinion resets the RNG
So I do whatever...
Yeah that rumor was addressed awhile back as false by Zenimax.

During Cake Week, my sister and I grinded dolmens to get a couple of alts up to VR1. Surprisingly, we did encounter one person who still believed the "don't hit any pinions until all are dead to increase chances of boss round" myth that was debunked on ESO Live. We had to quickly correct them, as we used pinions to restore resources -- I usually needed one early on, as the ritualists and first wave of enemies usually had me running low, since I went in guns blazing. Didn't need them griping about that.
Also ran into various veteran ranks at low-level zones for a couple of reasons. Some were boss-hunting, killing the enemies too quickly and robbing us of XP. They gladly stepped back so we could do the dirty work once they realized that. Some were outright killing everything on purpose to rob low-levels of experience, saying how it wasn't "the way to raise a toon" or some such. Hmph. Fortunately, we were able to get away from them and keep up our pace.
We were having fun and getting a nice boost in the process, so they can take their opinion of the "right way" to do it and stuff it in a Cheesemonger's Hollow, if you get my drift. ;P

I didn't realise you got more adds if you don't close the pinion, so always rush to shut them!!! Now I know I'll change to do as you do!
