Imperial Templar. Stamina Based Build

Peter38
Peter38
Hello all I am pretty new to ESO. And decided to play as a Imperial templar stamina build for my first Character. I currently have put all Attribute points into Stamina which stands at 22 and 0 in health and magicka.

However I do have a few questions I would like to ask about my character build. So here goes. I am worried about the health Attribute it's quite low it's roughly at 5k so cause of that I have had a few close shaves but managed to survive as of the damage my character can do. Also would like to find out why I run out of stamina pretty fast during combat to say it's well over 8k an my current level 23

Should I continue with this stamina based build or should I put some points into health as well for better survivability I was thinking 10 in health and all the rest into stamina.

Am also abit unsure about my current Abilities as well. Can't decide if they for solo and groups /PVP/PVE I just don't know lol. I would include my skills if Requested. Thanks for any help or advice if any

Whilst low level you'll want to use both magicka and stamina abilities, better resource management.

Which faction are you, also EU/NA?

You should use both magicka and stamina around that level like Willhelm said, have you unlocked another bar yet? I.E able to swap weapon using d pad left.

Use biting jabs as your main damage rather than using multiple different skills. When using biting jabs your best off gathering a mob as it does damage to multiple npcs at a time.

As a templar in PVP biting jabs is my main damage along with wrecking blow etc. What weapon are you using on Bar #1 and Bar#2

Also again, which faction and EU/NA

Which one mate lol, EU or NA I'm also in DC PS4 so if your in the EU server I can help you (they're completely separate)

Right I'll have to double check a lot of things on my templar when I'm on in an hour then I'll get back to you. Your skills really depend on what you want to do, if your mob grinding to level, questing, pvping so let me know and ill come up with some skills to use. I personally grinded most of my levels.

My biggest suggestion for you since you are leveling up is that you build up all your skills. While you may not need them now, it makes it a lot easier to use them later if you find you want to. Wear at least one of each type of armor on at all times so you can constantly level your armor skills passively. I also personally recommend that you get all of your weapon skills to at least 4 in the early game, because it is so easy to do at that phase. By unlocking the first two skills of each weapon it will make it easier to level any weapon you want to use further down (its a time saving thing). These are all things I try to do the moment out of coldharbor.

On the matter of health, you only need to add health if you are intending to be a tank. For leveling up you can keep dumping into stamina. The build will suit itself best to using magicka as utility skills, but for the sake of leveling all your skills its okay to have a couple of less effective skills on the bar. It will also help you gain familiarity with your toolset and options.

That's all the pointers I can think of. I've given similar suggestions before. :)

Thanks for your Reply and helpful advice Dodgehopper I will keep putting points into stamina like I have been doing since level 1

I am wearing all Medium Armour for max stamina Regeneration did wear light and heavy along with medium at one time so they're over 10 in light and heavy armour skill lines with medium one been higher as of wearing all medium. Sounds like I should go back to what I did before wearing different armour types. Going by your helpful advice

Don't worry about HP in PVE, you can use the Templar Rune or Healing Ritual to boost your Honor the Dead to be easily sufficient in PVE. You can also use Blazing Shield in PVE for huge groups in dungeons and with biting jabs your AOE dmg is pretty beefy, makes aoe grinding lvls super easy. Templar even with no health has redic survivability in pve.

Thought it was worth to mention that I have only put a point into one of the Aderic Spear passive skills which is burning light. Current skill level 23 none in the rest maybe I should start to put some into the other passives as well.Cos I find when I block my stamina drops fast. But none in Spear wall which reduces damage but does it also reduce the speed of stamina depleting whist you block the hit

Hi Afkninja sounds like Imperial templar was a good choice to go with on my first playthrough.Am guessing PVE is Player Verses Everything. Blazing shield is that morphed from Sun shield

PVE = Player vs environment aka non player characters. The opposite of PVP (player vs player). PVE is very very easy as a Magic Templar or Stamina Templar.

Yes Blazing Shield is morphed from Sun Shield. It stores damage taken then explodes when enemies burst it. Decent defense and aoe dmg combined. It's very bad in PVP though as it's half strength (15% of hp shield LOL).

If you are going stamina your entire Aedric Spear class tree is very good and most of the skills you use will come from it. (The rest will come from weapon tree's). There's just not a lot that's useful on a stamina build in the other trees. Just a couple skills and passives.

If you want good ideas for your stamina build I would check out @Alcast as he's got a couple good builds for Stamina Templar and it's a good starting point. Test it out and change out the things you don't like to customize it to your liking.

Don't put too much though on what skills you put points into. Skill points are literally everywhere.

There are also TONS of quests in all three factions that reward a full skill point. Even one for Sheogorath that rewards 2, although it requires making a sad choice in the quest. When you get lvl 50 and beat the main quest you can also go quest in the other 2 faction zones to get all their skill points and quests.

Momentum is a great first priority to morph it to Rally for a stamina heal. Also don't forget to break down unneeded items to lvl your crafting, and always be researching traits. Crafting takes so long to lvl but it's practically required to get good gear later unless you join a guild that can craft for you.

Skills to grab from Aedric Spear:

    Actives:

Puncturing Strikes -> Biting Jabs (Bread and butter cone AOE dps. Hits really hard.)
Piercing Javelin -> Binding Javelin (Single target long range CC, costs stamina. Very useful and looks awesome.)
Focused Charge -> Toppling Charge (costs magic but it's a ranged interupt/stun and it looks awesome. Occasionally bugs out)
Spear Shards -> Morph how you like (gives stamina to your team when grouping, very useful.)
Sun Shield -> Blazing Shield (for aoe PVE farming)

    Passives:

2/2 Piercing Spear (plus critical dmg and dmg against blocking targets, it's awesome)
2/2 Spear Wall (Optional but blocking more is pretty useful against world bosses etc)
2/2 Burning Light (Will scale off your stamina points but it magic dmg, this puts Biting Jabs on par with Wrecking Blow. You need it)
2/2 Balanced Warrior (+wep dmg and spell resist. Must have.)

The order you get them in is optional, but literally the whole tree is fantastic for a stamina build. There are less useful things in the other trees. Like in Dawns Wrath I don't take much, mostly just Restoring Spirit and Eclipse for PVE. I pick up Backlash when I have extra skill points I don't need.

Restoring Light is much better, from this tree I grab:

    Actives:

Rushed Ceremony -> Honor the Dead (pretty strong self heal in pve.)
Restoring Aura -> Repentance (Flat +10% to all resource regen, +hp and +stam from dead bodies, free to cast)
Cleansing Ritual -> Purifying Ritual (Heal over time, Major Mending +25% healing and removes debuffs. 3 wins in 1.)
Rune Focus -> Restoring Focus (+armor, +8% healing received, -8% dmg taken, also activates major mending like the ritual.)

    Passives:

2/2 Mending (+10% heals when low on hp)
2/2 Focused Healing (gives major mending in your rune/ritual, must have.)
0/2 Light Weaver (I personally don't use the skills this effects.)
0/2 Master Ritualist (I am not a rez bot, optional for you.)

Skills in bold are things I would target first on my Stamina Templar although it's totally up to you. There are also tons of great skills in 2 hand, Sword and Shield, Bow, dual wield. You'll have to pick something to focus on, my personal favorite is 2hand/bow or 2hand/SnS. Anyway just get out there and have fun!

Edit: I'd also take the Aedric Spear ultimate till you get Dawnbreaker -> Flawless Dawnbreaker (+8% wep dmg).
