Anniversary Cake and Maintenance shut down

The whole "stacking" issue was understandbly frustrating for a lot of players, but they gave us an additional day to compensate, so they acknowledged the issue.

Overall, I think the anniversary event went quite well, and I'm grateful for it.

Let's say I had a job and told my employer that I would work for one week. I didn't do the job as instructed for the first two days so I promised to make it up and work two extra days. On the last day I tell my boss, "I need to leave and do some maintenance at home, sorry". Or since this was a free event sub in volunteer work instead of a paying job.

I work for a large museum and that pretty much describes our volunteer interns.

Back in college I managed a fast food place. Same thing and I was paying these people to show up.

They really should extend the cake until about 3am EDT. give the people on the West Coast one more night of cake play.

once you hit about level 20 you really shouldn't be getting much xp out of the first zone.

also they should make the cake do something, not just have it be a useless momento. make it function as a magicka food buff or something.

Im not even done with the first zone and im level 30. I stopped getting xp from mobs a long time before I hit 30. I dont know I liked how it was before when you needed to do either some grinding or all the quests in each zone as you level.

And maybe you need a bit of a understanding on how server maintenance is done. Do you honesly think ZOS owns the servers? No, they lease them. And many times things have to be done by the company that provides the server farm, such as hardware upgrades, software updates, etc. To go along with that, many times these updates are scheduled in advance. So they can't just say "Wait, we have to STOP the maintenance NOW so everyone can eat cake!". I can just imagine the laughs from the guys at the server farm if the ZOS server tech told them that

That being said, about the only thing ZOS can do is extend the time a bit if they want to. Myself, I'll just be grateful they gave us the cake in the first place.

I totally agree, did the same thing here had to work all last week so never got the chance to use it till this weekend, I am off today so I and my wife woke up early to get the little bit of time left and we cant.....WTF I agree poor decision...

Just do the skill point quests and get to the right zone quicker. I'm level 44 in the last zone before Cold Harbor. Destinations will help you figure out which quests to do. Just enable Cadwell Silver quest tracker.

Volunteers are free to come and go as they please. The "employer's" time is not the volunteer's time to use as he pleases. Interns, on the other hand, are ripe for employer abuse. They obviously must do the work for free or not get whatever academic or professional credit they need. So, there really is no such thing as a "volunteer intern".

They may still make it right, but only if all players are notified in some meaningful way that "right" is happening, and they will actually have an opportunity to utilize it.

Well I think being in the "right" zone is subjective. I still get xp from the quests and I enjoy doing them even if the mobs dont give me xp. I clear the zone then move on to the next one. I like getting all the achievements as well for each zone and faction. So to me Im in the right zone.

No one was saying anything about people who lost scrolls shouldn't get refunded. Will part of todays "patch" includes an "anticake" its for all those who complain on these forums about the "free exp cake" it gives you a 50 percent exp "cut" which you cant turn off and lasts for 24 hours of actual game time fighting mobs.... enjoy your anticake...

@ZOS_GinaBruno, any chance we can get an extension of the bday cake, say for the amount of time the servers are down for maintenance?? I just noticed this post, as the server is still down and even though I would love to be eating my bday cake and taking an experience scroll right now, I'm browsing the forum. I agree with the majority of the replies to this post, I am in college and although I would have loved playing nonstop through this bday event and taking advantage of the xp bonus, I have been busting my a** to get homework done. So essentially I have only had 2.5 days of this anniversary event to enjoy the perks of stacking the free cake with the paid experience scroll.

And before anyone replies with something asinine, no, it won't kill me if we don't get an extension, I have been playing for the past two years non-stop and I have deleted more vet characters than I care to think simply because I've gotten bored with the current character or because I wanted to try another build. I can also afford to buy as many experience scroll as I want and still, eventually, get my new baby character to vet level. I am just saying it would be nice for EVERYONE to get an extension on the bday cake since maintenance has/is keeping us from enjoying the extra benefits of the last day of the event.

They should extend the cake for 2 additional days just because the XP stacking was jacked up the first 2 days and people were wasting their scrolls and psijic ambrosia when they wouldn't stack with the cake.

Maintenance days and times are always posted Friday for the upcoming week.
I realize it's not ideal to check the forums but just sharing that Friday or as late as Saturday, these notices appear

And....the cake was already extended due to issues initially

I took screenshots of my cake and will remember it fondly. Maybe ZOS will make it an annual event - a week in April of each year when cake doubles your XP.

You can still summon the cake after the event. Just eating it wont do anything.

Yeah man, planned to get off work early by working hard (mission accomplished btw) and server down??????? So now we are all selfish babies because we want was given and planned for? Pfft. Been playing since beta on PC. You can go pack sand with all that bull your dropping. I love this game. But no matter how you "slice it" this was poor planning on their part.

If players were working or otherwise tied up 9 days straight then I get that.

Problem is ... I don't think very many players fall into that category.

yeah i just have one more alt i wanted to up 10-15 levels today. my main is almost to v4 and wanted to get that done too if i had the time. two group dungeons instead of one should do that though.
