Anniversary Cake and Maintenance shut down

mtapub17_ESO
Let me get this straight, we get a XP buff with the cake from the baker. Great, I like it, it's only going to give me extra XP until 8pm on 12APR16, got it. Then I log on to play while I still have a little time before I go to work and what do I find....THE LAST DAY THAT THE CAKE WILL GIVE ME EXTRA XP, THE SERVER IS SHUT DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE!!!!!!! WTF is that all about? Why wouldn't you wait until the next day to pull maintenance, why would you cut me short on the opportunity to earn extra XP???? *** poor decision

Yup, I agree. I woke up early to get a little more time in before the end of the cake event... and nope.. no cake for me... and it looks like the maintenance is going to take still yet longer.. This is really frustrating. :(

Count yourself lucky there was a whole week of it anyway.

The people who spent on scrolls got refunded, those of us who didnt have had extra days of 100% xp and you people are now moaning?

There are a few words for people like you but im afraid i'll get banned.

There are a few words for people like you too.. but I'd probably get banned as well.

No one was saying anything about people who lost scrolls shouldn't get refunded. Just saying it's a bummer that on the very last day of the event.. the server is shut down, and now looks like it will be "early afternoon" before it comes back up. Are you over joyed at this? No? Then why are you upset that there are people who are also not "thrilled" about the shut down on the last day of cake?

Read your OP again, you were saying more than "its a bummer" you were cap spamming and swearing like a spoiled brat.

Where exactly am I "swearing like a spoiled brat" Seriously.. is saying that something is "frustrating" swearing to you?

Oh wait.. you said you.. (making me think you meant me) but what you meant to say was "they" as in the original poster of the thread.

There.. I fixed that for you in the quote above. :)

It's sort of a MMO tradition/standard that you celebrate your anniversary with your players with some sort of something. There would be a negative impact for them to just ignore their own anniversary (imho).

I will agree that the cake was a great gift, and I do appreciate it, but.. timing for maintenance would have been better (to me) if they held off just one more day after the event was over.

I mean, we have had over a week to benefit from the cake. I think it's a little harsh to attack Zenimax on this basis. Many companies does not care about anniversaries. I'm grateful that Zenimax gave us this event that would greatly benefit our leveling progress.

The whole "stacking" issue was understandbly frustrating for a lot of players, but they gave us an additional day to compensate, so they acknowledged the issue.

Overall, I think the anniversary event went quite well, and I'm grateful for it.

100% xp buff is insane anyways. I gained almost 30 levels just casually questing in the starter island then the starter zone. Im actually glad today is the last day. I believe we get too much XP as it is without all these boosts.

I am grateful for it as well. But it may be a stretch to call any event where you end up have to refund peoples money, as going quite well.

If I was among those who spent real money based on false information, and I had a problem with it after the additional day, I would send a support ticket. Some players thought it was good enough with the additional day, but others don't.

I mean its not the worst thing in the world, but that is a bit salty of them to shut down during a special event. This also sucks for me as I work later in the day but I am 35 CP away from cap so im ok. Reasonably, somebody with much more left to progress would feel the frustration.

I have to agree with the OP, the maintenance was badly timed. If they pushed maintenance back 1 day from Monday to Tuesday, they could have easily pushed it back 1 more day to Wednesday. It's all these little annoyances that show a lack of planning on Zenimax's part.

Let's say I had a job and told my employer that I would work for one week. I didn't do the job as instructed for the first two days so I promised to make it up and work two extra days. On the last day I tell my boss, "I need to leave and do some maintenance at home, sorry". Or since this was a free event sub in volunteer work instead of a paying job.

All of this wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact that we seem to be going through another 'extended maintenance' today which means us PC players most likely won't even be able to get back into the game until early afternoon. As Gina stated, they will be posting patch notes "early this afternoon" and since they normally post the patch notes upon completion of the patch, then it appears the PC side won't be up until roughly the same time as patch notes being posted. This means we will have lost over six hours of XP bonus because of the extended maintenance time; I think it would be appropriate if they also extended the PC XP buff until midnight tonight.

It originally wasn't supposed to even go into today. It was extended because of the non stacking issue. As others have said, they could have done nothing like last year. With all the whining, they will probably do nothing next year and I wouldn't blame them.

With all the glitched quests and dolmens I've seen on the last couple of days with all the farming and players rushing around, the servers are in desperate need of a reset.
