that said, i've played with a NB copying your build (already a week ago, don't know how much you changed since then) and it's awesome. The walls function like mines you can play around and are an incredible strategic advantage. unaware enemies melt and the healing output is actually better than that of a templar. it's almost like having areas that are mines and healing springs at the same time. also, the HP per cast is huge for the path. spamming healing ward (or even hardened) while standing in a path makes you incredibly hard to take down

What do you run instead of winterborn?

I think it´s depending on the playstyle. I don´t play the sorc as a "burst" char but go fur sustained pressure (mainly because i really dislike detonation for various reasons). The best addition to that playstyle is rgn spike dps the enemy can´t control or predict.
On top of that skoria and winterborn add lovely passive aoe for the rare situations where you´re Xv1d but still have a fighting chance.

Currently magnus (+msa staff, 3 willp, 1kena, 1bs (need the stam reg to play with food)) and switched that to VD while I was emp the 5 piece bonus is actually huge. i can easily sustain my magicka with 3 sd glyphs. MUCH better than seducer.

I play a lot around curse+deto+dawnbreaker bursts, sometimes with an added frag, often with streak and boundless. and I'm always amazed by the damage lighting staff HAs do against reflecting targets and the lulz when disintegration procs. Imho I've found something that works incredibly well for me in open-word solo/duo/trio but I'm still switching around a lot because I'm not fully content with my performance in larger groups (I resort to winterborn there) and obviously purpose-built builds are stronger for duels (fear my harness magicka, stamina shieldbreaker users! ).

As winterborn sorc, it was just too hard to hit-and-run weaker targets when 1vX and I didn't make many points when trying to solo swim between enemy and friendly zergs (albeit, not exactly the pinnacle of good pvp, but I need some points after rerolling sorc - and my bursty build does very well at that). Also I had a much harder time fighting stam DKs (and similar opponents, esp. with shuffle) than I have now.

I really would reconsider winterborn and a pressure style if I had access to a heal debuff like soul harvest included in this thread's build.

EDIT: Maybe the important part is that I never tried Skoria with the WInterborn. Might be exactly the burst I missed so bad. However, I still hate meteor (because you give the moment of your burst away and targets can react) and I really have problems making 0 stam regen work with Food>Drinks. The single bonus from bloodspawn is exactly what I need
