Which do you prefer to do at anchors?

People are always going around busting pinions at anchors regardless of whether or not anyone else there prefers to farm the Daedra. More than half the time I do anchors on alts I deal with people cutting the grind short when I prefer to kill all the Daedra first. I have met others that do the same as I do though so I am running this poll to get an idea of how much of which of the 2 types of dolmen "visitors" is more common. Feel free to share your thoughts on these 2 types of people as well, but keep it civil and follow community rules so the mods don't have to intervene.

I prefer to break the pinions as soon as possible to destroy the anchor quicker

I just do whatever because neither one of the above matters to me whatsoever

I don't even bother visiting dolmens so this does not concern me at all

As long as nobody shows up to mess with things, I leave them.

Anytime someone shows up to "help" they ignore all Mobs and close the pinions. They probably mean well, but...

Since the pinions don't affect a dolmen in anyway I sometime close em sometimes leave em, depends on my mood or if I'm not alone.

When i have a dolmen to myself, i always kill everything first, then close the pinions. That is, unless i run out of stamina/magicka in which case i go for a quick refill.

With other people around, i go for whatever is in front of me. Or, if i'm in a low level zone, i hang back and heal them.

The waves of daedra are pre-set at the beginning based on how many players are around. Closing the pinions or not has not effect on anything (other than heal you and give you a buff).

Breaking the 4th Pinion before defeating all incoming Daedra or killing the Daedra already there makes them vanish with no xp awarded for effort already made because it is getting ready for the final round.

I could have sworn the fourth pinion never opens up until all the deadra are dead. I've certainly never noticed it being any other way. Maybe I'm completely oblivious.

Nowerdays I usually don't bother with dolmens. But back when I did them more frequently, I usually used the pinions as soon as they appeared to get my ressources back.

For the Exp bonus week, I kill everything before using the last one only hitting the other 3 whenever i run out of stamina or magicka. Usually though I break them as fast as possible as I just want the chest loot, the 5k exp normally is nominal. Someone tried to inform me that killing all the little enemies before closing the final pinion increases the chances that named bosses for achieves will spawn, but I know better those are predetermined as soon as it activates.

I've been told various things about leaving the pinions up. For example, I've been told (i.e. screamed at in voice chat) by multiple people that you only kill the "trash deadra" until forth pinion pops, and then kill the rest. That supposedly increases the chance of a "rare chest" which contains rare motifs and purple gear. And that closing even one pinion resets the RNG

    So I do whatever...

It's my understanding from the many pinions I've done in the past that the maximum number of mobs that get "lost" by the last pinion is 1. I wouldn't make a fuss over one mob. I'd rather have more players there scaling the total number of mobs that spawn and "risk" losing that one last mob anyway.

    This.

As to the pinions, I rarely close them. Mostly I don't even get the chance; there's always someone else there, ready to do it. I saw two people fighting over closing pinions awhile back. Maybe there's an achievement or benefit?

I've learned over the years that, like many people who watch and play sports, gamers are a superstitious lot. Hell, I've come across players in a certain MMO who wouldn't run a raid unless the healers wore a certain dye on their clothes :|

    Very strange, but fascinating imo

You cannot spam a dolmen ad infinitum.

Once the 4th anchor pin illuminates that's it. You have to close it to move on otherwise the dolmen goes into limbo.

When you solo them you get a minimum enemy drop.

When other players join in that increases on a ratio of players present to enemies spawning in but when the last pinion glows you may as well hit it and close the damn thing.

Also, closing an anchor pin replenishes your stats instantly so what's not to like about that?

The sooner you close the dolmen the sooner you can move on to the next one if your chasing Enemy of Cold Harbour or Daedric Lord Slayer achievements.

I tend not to get any XP at all at dolmens unless it is in a VR area and my 'toon is VR until I close the dolmen. Yet another reason to shut them down ASAP.

The Monster Hunter achievement can be partially attempted by killing certain types of Daedra like the Frost Atronach but you don't always know when they are going to show up. Again,. you may as well shut it down and move on to the next one.

I prefer to kill all then close pinions unless I need to heal or am out of stam/mag.

I can't stand when someone comes up and just starts closing them. Someone who has done nothing, and therefore needs no resources that they refresh... Those people end up finishing it on their own or die trying while I sit back and watch.

There IS an achievement for closing pinions. I think you have to do 100 of them. I always used to try and close them before anyone else so I could get this.

Now that I have it, if I am not soloing, I leave them for others to get in case they want the achievement.

But mostly, I solo, and I tend to just close them whenever I'm next to one and not being attacked that second. I NEVER NOTICED that it restored attributes... Is the extra couple of clannfears really going to make a difference to my XP?
