What do you EXPECT from "Dark Brotherhood"

  • BenLocoDete
    BenLocoDete

Khajiit expects only that she will need to watch her back...

    Yours with trembling paws
    Santie Claws

    Beautiful!

What I expect is the final nail in the coffin that was their statement about not having anymore the players take part in the justice system, as it was originally advertised and is a huge improvement to the actual implementation. Right now, not being able to stop people from clearing every vendor cache at plain daytime light(if you play a 'good' oriented role, of course) is quite an immersion break for me, and I'm running out of ideas as of how to justify them in a roleplaying perspective.

The murder of townsfolk and commoners or farmers is already happening far too often(plus having them respawning back a couple seconds later makes for even more embarrassing results) and we'll definitely see it happening a lot more from now on. So to address these criminal acts, it is mandatory that guards and the whole town react to those crimes in a more stressful way:

1: A REPORT CRIME SYSTEM. Whenever a serious crime happens, it can be either theft or murder, for a brief moment, the system would call for a "report window" around the area of the crime (much like what we have for the synergic abilities), where the players in that area radius(relative small radius) are prompted to press "X" to report the crime they just witnessed and have the guards pursue the criminal.

2: FOR MURDER - MASS HYSTERIA - every(or some flagged as capable) NPC around becomes invulnerable(for a dozen seconds at least) and hostile much like the guards and jumps in to fight the offender or runs away in fear until their pathing is reset.

The criminal will have to make a stealth check to get away with murder in the broad light of day in the market, or(preferably), run away(after drinking an invisibility potion) with a bounty.

3: WHENEVER A LONE NPC IS KILLED, let's say, in a neglected place much like in the docks, that character won't respawn for half an hour. Meanwhile, it will be replaced by a guard, that will roam the same way the murdered NPC would walk until it is ready to come back. This makes for more guards in places where the murders are more common, what we would expect, for instance, where people are required to work like the docks with valuable cargos shipping all the time.

4: HIGHER BOUNTIES: so I was in Khenarti's Roost wilderness, close to the Mystral bridges when I spotted a knight desperately running away from a thunder bug. I tried to catch up but the bug gave up the knight and started to run back to its place. In half a second I started to cast a shard spell to attack the monster, but it missed and instead killed a khajiit at a rather apologetic Dominion talk. Oblivion broke loose and I had to run away from the other attendees ending up in a temple where some elf requested my help - end of the story once I was done with a fairly simple quest my bounty for murder was reset. Murder is this banal and unless you play a fairly psychopathic character none will give a s*** about the people you kill. I'd like to see the bounties multiplied by 4 at least, to keep people 2~4 hours away from the scene before telling them it is all good we forget everything.

    This is what I expect:
    • Gold Coast zone. Larger than Hew's Bane, but smaller than the average zone.
    • Two cities. Anvil and Kvatch
    • Short PVE main quest. Similar to Thieves Guild, a starter quest and a short main quest
    • Repeatable PVE Dark Brotherhood daily quests. Kill NPCs for profit and fun.
    • Dark Brotherhood passive skill line. Kill NPCs more efficiently. Perhaps sharing passives with Thieves Guild skill line.
    • Dark Brotherhood outfit.
    • DLC Reward collectible, but not a pet.
    • One dungeon, normal and veteran... OR... a single player or group PVE arena in Kvatch
    • Two delves
    • Four skyshards

    2500 Crowns

    Also appearing...
    • Removal of Veteran Ranks. Massive forum complaining.
    • Assorted Combat Skill changes. Massive forum complaining.
    • Assorted Race changes. Massive forum complaining.
    • Increase CP cap by 51. Strong forum complaining.
    • Console character names/player ID toggle
    • A few more collectibles placed into the Mementos section
    • Possibly the ESO Plus crafting bag
    • At least one new Motif, probably more
    • At least one new Set, probably more

    Bugs and Fixes...
    • Extensive server-side lag fixes. No noticeable difference.
    • Run speed will be fixed, but upon release, no one will be able to sprint until an incremental patch.
    • Dogs will walk backwards until next major update.
    • Some female armor will be fixed. Side effect is that all females have beards and beasts will not have tails.
    • New DB armor sets will make males look like Jessica Rabbit. Females will look like Roger Rabbit. After patch, everyone will look like Roger Rabbit.

Standard things we get in every Update...
    • 15-25% of the new features will be bugged on release.
    • Most of the bugs reported in PTS will not fixed. A few new ones will appear post PTS.
    • 5-10 unintended bugs related to other fixes, new content, or areas of the code that just felt left out and lonely

    Assorted predictions...
    • No fix for lag. Please reset alarm clocks for next major update.
    • No Stamina Sorcerers
    • No GUI quality of life improvements
    • No Housing
    • No Barbershop
    • No race change

Specifically related to Dark Brotherhood (DB)...

    What I want:

I liked how in Skyrim you had the option to join the DB, or kill the messenger and become the enemy of the DB and have a fork in the quest line. If they do this then I will be happy. One thing that always bothered me in ESO question is the basically straight line you have to follow. I mean, what if I wanted to support the Veiled Inheritance or the Iron Wheel?

I would like to see some DB specific Active abilities too.

    What we will actually get:

    1. A straight line quest that has a couple intimidate/persuade options for variance...

    2. Radial quests to go assassinate random npcs.

    3. DB specific passives.

    4. Bug fixes and balance changes.

    5. Crown Store items.

I am really trying hard not to get negative on this, but I am hoping for Wrothgar, but expecting to get another Hews Bane.
    Playing since beta...

I agree with many of the things listed here already, but the 2 most important to me.

Bug fixes, cannot stress this enough, the game is kind of a mess when it comes to optimization, crashing, login issues.

But as far as content, the #1 thing it would need to make me happy is a nice long, well written and entertaining story line. This story line should also lead to a game state that offers the chance to honorably execute endless people via contracts (maybe like radiant quests in Skyrim?) but kept interesting in some way.

honorably execute? - this is not the Morag Tong coming up, but the Dark Brotherhood - you are just backed up by a deity, but for mortals you are a criminal when caught. The Morag Tong would be an organisation with legal assassinations, where you get a writ, which states that you are performing a legal assassination and when shown to a guard the crime is nullified.

all DLC releases should come with atleast 1 dungeon, doesnt matter if its NEW or a Vet version of a lower dungeon. we need consistent new PVE content, and dungeons are bread and butter.

I expect more risk-free PvE content and more PvP neglect.

Join the Dark Brotherhood!! Be a cold, evil killing machine that stalks helpless NPCs with a fury but by any means don't try to fight any human opponents what are you crazy? You might actually lose!!!

The motto for Thieves Guild was "play dirty, get away clean." I expect a similar motto for Dark Brotherhood. "Pretend you are badass risk free without any real PvP!"

I also expect some really stupid gearing decisions like CP gated gear or having to re-grind everything again.

To all those wanting a class change, think about it logically. You've got your vet 16 Templar but now you want him to be a night blade - you would have to level up all the class skill lines all over again, and if your going to do that (this is just my opinion) you may as well just start a new character. I can definitely see the appeal of being able to change your class, but if it were to ever happen, it would need to be a limited thing like 1 class change per character. Not to mention it would need to be quite expensive so that it isn't something people can rush into without thinking. What would be uncool would be for ZOS to put it on the crown store for something ridiculous like 10,000 crowns.

Feel free to contradict every word I've written. I love hearing other people's opinions and seeing how they differ to my own. :)

An assassination is not including a fight - it is just what it is - a clean and risk-free kill, if done correctly. if you have to fight, you failed the assassination part and are in distress.

    I support more hugs!

Quen and Walks both needed some hugs that I wish I could have given to them. Poor things. Walks wouldn't like that, though. It would mess up his clothes.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

How do you overachieve on that one? Been a long time since I played it. By Babette style I assume you mean with deceit. The contract was to kill every last guest and for a bonus get some of them to kill each other without ever getting caught in the act. I always killed the old Breton lady by luring her in to the cellar followed by the Dunmer girl after sending her off to a bedroom to wait for romance, after that it didn't take much to get fights going.

Remember the old man killed by his falling trophy... Good times. Skyrim contracts were a little bland in comparison.
