Is it worth it to level more than one toon to vet16? Considering dark brotherhood.

Xandyaffonso
I have a vet16 toon and recently I leveled a sorc to vet2. I was wondering if it was worth it to level my sorc to vet16 or if would be best to level more toons to vet1.

When they take out the vet ranks, will it matter how many vet ranks you have? I know that if I have a vet16 I get 40CP or something like that, but it just works in one vet16.

Isn't DB 3 to 4 months away anyway? Depending on how much time you spend in the game to level your char it might be worth it. If you don't think you can get it to vet 16 in a reasonable amount of time don't bother trying to rush it.

If you like to play this character however, just play it and don't worry about your level, with the battle scaling in dungeons and pvp it doesn't absolutely have to be v16 in order to be effective.

Regardless of what you do, you will get champion points, and these matter in the end, unless you are already at the cap.

You need a total of 160 CP for any of your lvl 50 chars to wear VR16 gear, so if you don't have that yet might as well get cracking. Also it helps getting more CP with the more VR characters you have as they can all do daily random dungeons and daily writs to pump up the growth. Each alt has their own CP bar growth, you can get them faster by doing each character.

Just leveling right now to vr1 on other characters, I'd rather not waste weeks leveling them to vr16 only to have that all taken away with DB update.

Did ZOS actually confirmed VR are going away In the DB patch ? Never read that anywhere. I thought they said around the time of the DB patch ? Which could actually mean 3 months after it lol...

@Averya_Teira it was confirmed for sure in ESO Live that VR would go away with DB. On my phone so can't find it right now, it's a couple episodes back

It was said it was going in DB but a lot of things have been said and not happened exactly as promised... or at all.

I would suggest playing any character you want to use soon as if VR were staying - if you don't have a timescale then park them at VR1 and wait.

My main worry is given the number and variety of items and the propensity of ZOS to create catastrophe with the most basic of changes that the game will actually die when they remove VR simply because of the number of people who will not be willing to deal with the 6-9 months it will probably take them to fix the screw ups.

I base this on them knowing there is a basic low level bug with speed that they introduced with TG and they have no plans to fix it before DB... that suggests a lack of staff dedicated to coding which in turn makes me feel they are drawing down on genuine improvement and selling crown store fluff as long as we are willing to tolerate it before closing the game.

PC users move from being beta testers to cash cows.

    I hope I am wrong!

If it's anything like their previous DLC's then yes the gear will scale to what your highest CP is currently at like it would with VR, so going with your 40 CP that's probably VR4 equivalent gear that all your lvl 50's will get until you get it higher.

Right now I have over the 160 CP requirement, I got a new char to VR1 recently and I been sky shard farming getting as many skill points as possible while doing dungeons whenever they pop up, if they ever pop up. If you don't feel like leveling, you can do that instead.

I think many are loosing the concept or maybe just playing a very short version of the entire game.

Removing Vr levels doesn't remove the skill points from quests and shards in the silver and gold zones.
I'd say don't grind levels and instead worry about skill points quests and shards. If you end up as vr10+ great...then u can stop but if not I think you'll be closer to vr16

Understand that the content may end up being more important cause Vr levels aren't build into many character specific progression.....it's prob a really good idea to level up

Do what I'd do. Make all.the characters you'd like to have endgame, grind them to V1, mothball. If you're feeling like leveling them while waiting for DB, just bring them each through a random normal dungeon. 100k xp is nothing to sneeze at, and you'll get experience playing your role for when the VR get removed. Win-win

Dark Brotherhood is coming Q2 of this year which means either April, May or June. This means we will see Dark Brotherhood on the PTS within the next 55 days at the very very latest (June 30th release, last possible minute). In reality we're likely to see it a bit sooner than that and within a couple of weeks we will start seeing ZOS releasing more info on Dark Brotherhood. They said themselves it's "coming really fast" and that they are "already writing up the promo material".

Levelling to VR16 is worth it just for the CP in my opinion and we don't know exactly how it's all going to work come Dark Brotherhood, so.

this is over the course of 3 yrs, leveling was easier with craglorn grind and I don't waste time when I'm logged in.avg writ run(meaning all crafting skills) is 5-7mins per character.even quicker if I have the PC's already made.

Regarding the 40 CP given to someone with a VR16 character, the OP is referring to Rich Lambert's quote here:
    forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/231941/no-we-are-not-raising-the-vr-cap-before-we-remove-them/p1#Comment_2457704

But, it sounds like, since he has a VR16 toon, if he only had 100 CP to begin with, in order to keep the VR 16 equivalent gear, he'd receive 60 CP, not 40 to ensure he can wear what he was wearing which would be 160 CP gear.

Further, it sounds like it's pointless to level more then one toon to VR16 as a goal. The new goal, once you have a single VR16 toon is to get as many champion points as possible. But if you already have 160 CP, then the most you'll get given is 40 more no matter how many VR 16 toons you have.

Atleast start leveling your skils/fighters guild/mages guild/undaunted for sure. And collect shards and do the quest that rewards SP.

You still need to get them to level 50 in order to instantly hit end game so might as well grind them up to at least vr1.

If you want to "entertain" yourself with everything the game has to offer then try to have 4 toons at VR one for each class.
Right now i have two vet 16 and two vet 1 and i'm trying to have the vr 16 equip for the two low levels before the DB update will come, doing this when they remove the vr ranks i will have 4 fully equipped "vr 16 " toons without grinding the vr levels.
I will not do the Undaunted passives and the Alliance war passives for everyone but i can live with it.

Why not? Best case they'll remove it in ~3 months(wouldn't count on earlier), worst they never will. I wouldn't count on them doing it (any time soon) and would just level a toon at a pace acceptable to you. Grind til your eyes bleed out, maybe not unless you're superset on having to try this char in endgame PvE/PvP, just level at your own pace, sure why not. If nothing else you'll earn CP which is good, so it's not a total waste of time.

I gave up on them removing vet or fixing whatever else by now lol. Just enjoy the game while you can and how/if you can, don't count on them doing what they said or fixing anything. That way if they actually keep their word for once you'll be in for pleasant surprise ;)
