Honest ZoS i would like to get a explanation why you have double standard when it come to costumes in the game.

You are go to sell the icon hero costume the Elven Hero Armor this weekend

Which you have total change form original which look like this

ea06d8785bf9b2c055ecd5f25e942e85.jpg

But still you have stomach to sell costumes that show hell off alot more skins like this 2 this month

You mean the thighs? Other than that looks pretty same just different color minus the cloak.

I might be a minority, but I really just think this isn't worth complaining about or a big deal. Then again I'm not a major roleplayer, just my opinion.

ITT OP does not know that the real reason why they removed the skin on the female is so that they can just render one costume instead of having to make 2.

I agree OP, the message is completely inconsistent.

When they took any kind of revealing features away from most of the armors I just assumed it was to try to entice people to buy their more revealing costumes. Why, then, would they cover up a costume? Especially one that, in context of the Elder Scrolls Online, would be considered iconic.

It's as if they don't have any direction or their leadership changes their mind all the time.

My guess is that they wanted it to look more like the male version.

I thought that maybe they did that hoping people would buy two costumes - Altmer Hero for being iconic and one of the Bosmer outfits fot showing skin - instead of buying only the Altmer Hero one for being both iconic and showing skin.

But that would be crazy. I mean, I think the chances of that severely hurting the Altmer Hero costume's sale in favor of the Bosmer costumes (which will be much cheaper) are pretty big. I'm still getting it if it looks good in game since I think the costume looks pretty on itself, but I imagine lots of people won't.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Looking at the design, the little skirt on the female version is no longer needed. The skirt was likely because of the exposed upper thigh.

Also, how crazy is it that it's been 2 years and we only have one of these costumes? ZOS Time is almost worse than Valve Time.

The Nord hero in the trailer was male, so the armor in game looks more masculine ok, that makes sense. The Altmer hero in the trailer was female, the costume should default to the female style as that makes sense.

I had every intention of buying this costume, even for what I consider to be a steep price. Not any more. Not until this costume and the travesty of the deformed single model armor is resolved.

The aesthetic inconsistencies are a major turn off as far as making any more purchases, since I have no idea what @Zos will do to twist them into in the future.

Well if you look at pic under you also see the have remove gloves and honest the hero costumes should not be change at all and yeah why have the cover up thighs when you see other 2 costumes that is come to crown store is more skins i personal think the so call double standard from ZoS part is just stupid.

The female altmer hero (to me) was an iconic part of ESO. I fully expected the costume to be an exact replica save the limitations of the in-game graphics. For 2.5k, Id want the cloak... and the thigh area to be exactly the same as the trailer. And why cant we have capes in the game... They cant be that hard to code in...

Completely irrelevant to this discussion but whilst you're on the topic of double standard:
    - Vigor: assault line, affects any ally
    - Rapid Manoeuvre: assault line, only affects group

    No consistency :*

I'm guessing it's to avoid negative backlash, there was a scene in the cinematic that was criticized with the original outfit. Would be kinda silly, but I've seen that kind of sillyness before. Specifically this outfit, because it's a well-known one.
Dealbreaker for me is the missing cloak, though. Costume looks sooo much better with it, and that was the one costume I was looking forward to when I pre-ordered ESO:TU. Not gonna buy this version here. So disppointed.

    This.

No woman is going to ride a horse into battle in a miniskirt with her thigh skin exposed and nothing under that skirt. Oh, the chaffing! I hated the original; this one works. It's still a great design but without the glaring impracticality.

But for casual wear? Yep, miniskirt and halter top works fine.

I think it looks fine. The first render, with bare thighs, looks ... painful to me. Anyone, male or female, who has ridden a bike in bare legs knows why biker shorts were created.

Or they reused that part of the costume, as the costumes themselves are not the same and Zenimax clearly made two. :) If you look closely, the female render is different even on the legs. The leather straps on her thigh are at a different angle above the boot (I'm assuming a soft leather thigh boot) although this could just be result of the mesh.

Rendering aside, they are the same style of costume, so they should look the same.

I love this costume. I think Zenimax did a great job on this. I will be buying it.

I was wondering this too. I was considering getting the costume, but not after ZOS decided to add pants to the female version, which is DIFFERENT than the Elf Hero in the intro. She has a skirt that shows off her legs. Make the costume the same or nobody will buy it.

Well, I have to agree. I was going to buy the Elf Hero costume, but since that won't be available, I won't. No big deal.
