What happened to the XP?

Been playing for about an hour now, and when I first began playing this evening I was using the cake and received 100xp bonus. Now nothing. Been killing mobs 5-7 levels below me and my xp has not budged 1xp.

WTF? (Suffice to say I'm frustrated because of this muck-up, my cake is being wasted on a char I wanted to level!)

GRRRRRR

You need to know that when you outlevel mobs too much you get no XP from them at all.

About cake XP buff, it needs to be renewed evry 2 hours or everytime you die.

Yeah, that's the problem there. Mobs that are more than 5 levels below you don't give any XP. 100% increase on 0 is still 0 ;)

    They fixed that.

Thanks to all of you for responding and clarifying how the xp works. I really appreciate it!

If what you say is true, then I hit a glitch because I was the same level, killing the same level of mobs, and suddenly no more xp. :(

well while you are leveling fast you will earn xp till you are 5 lvls above the monsters you kill and no longer earn xp on them. so you will level fast and start earning 0 xp.

Also, from the sounds of it, you're only using the cake on one character. You can use it on all of them.

Were you doing some sort of event mechanic where "adds" were spawning as part of a fight? Sometimes those grant no XP.

"Been killing mobs 5-7 levels below me and my xp has not budged 1xp"

5 to 7 levels below will also grant no xp as mentioned before.
    Playing since beta...

You may have missed your level up. I have missed quite a few when they happen in the middle of a fight with all the effects flying around. You get some Exp when your 5 levels over, but not as much as on level to I think 2 levels over, it might only be one level over that gives full exp. It goes down until you get to 5 levels over and after that, nothing. You even get less loot other than hides and possibly Achievement Trophies

Thing is, unless your grinding your character to max level, you kind of don't want to use the Jubilee Cake, as with Leveling Content, it is easy to over level with just the base game and no buffs. Add in ESO Plus, Grouping with one other etc, and you will be over the content everywhere. This is not so bad if you don't care about loot or rewards, but if your attempting to level say crafting, you want mob loot to decon.

So, if your playing the content, don't use the cake. If your grinding your character, then use the cake but you will have to keep moving up in zones to each grind spot.

Just eat the cake. Can't hurt.

If your looking for Mob Loot to decon or research traits with, then it can. If you don't care about that, then sure.

It's just that 1-50 leveling does not need any exp boosts if your doing the content. If your grinding, then your grinding, but playing the content over leveled is not all that much fun.

or grind in a scaled area like wrothgar hews bane cyrodiil or IC and you will not out level the monsters and level up fast as well :) it is harder at low levels to do this though
