Will any of the DLC be "forced" on me if I subscribe?

This might sound like a weird question, but I'm new and switching from PC to PS4 today. If I get the free 500 crowns then I'll need to buy a 1500 pack so I can buy the adventurer's pack. I figure I may as well sub to ESO Plus for the same price, however I want to spend a lot of time with the base content before I touch any of the DLC.

I remember in Skyrim with the Dawnguard DLC, vampires will attack your town out of nowhere. So I'm wondering if any DLC will be forced on me, or if I can safely wait to play it until I'm ready. Otherwise I'll skip ESO Plus for now.

An Orc will approach you to give you the Wrothgar quest. Otherwise, no. You won't be forced to do the dlc before base content. I'd actually reccommend doing base content first, otherwise you will overlevel it. Dlc content scales you to max level so you can do it whenever.

All of the DLC's will be available to you, but that access won't interfere with completing the base content like the Vampires in Skyrim did. You will receive invitations to the new zones and will be able to complete them whenever you are ready.

Yep, you can ignore the DLC completely. While the Thieves Guild has some nice passives to assist in the more larcenous activities, you don't need them to be a thief if you pay attention to your surroundings.

Note, even if you accept the starter quest for each DLC, you can ignore them until you are ready.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
