Perfect Roe drop rate pre patch vs post patch

Has anyone else noticed a significantly lower drop rate of Perfect Roe now that the Thieves Guild came out? Pre patch i could skin 200 fish and average roughly anywhere from 2-4 Roe and if i was lucky sometimes 5! Now that the patch has drop i can skin 200 fish and be lucky if i get 2 Roe. Just wondering if im having horrible luck or the drop rate has really been cut in half.

I've only caught about 500-600 fish since TG release, but based on those I would say the chance to get a Perfect Roe when skinning a fish is somewhere between 1/100 and 1/120 (just as it was before TG for me).

All the numbers I've seen for large samples always put perfect roe at about .8%, or a little fewer than 1 roe per 100 fish. That's what I got out of 6k+ fish after finishing my Master Angler. You may have had particularly good luck before, but your last numbers seem to line up with others' and mine as well.

They really need a higher drop rate. Fishing isn't exactly a fast process in this game.

to me perfect roe doesn't exist in this game. Time spent getting 1 of these is time that could have been spent just playing and getting XP.

Soooo dumb, should be able to get these from hirelings on occasion, PvP loot drops, treasure chests, quest rewards. No thnaks

I would just like to see a perfect roe once for the heck of it. I don't do a lot of fishing in this game, but I've probably skinned around 400 fish in my time. Never seen one.

The drop rate has not changed, with the perfect roe being roughly 1/100. You were just pulling lucky cards with the RNG on the roe you got, something I have experienced before getting 6/300 and even two in a row out of that 6.

They keep the drop rates low to make the roe/ambrosia harder to ascertain, and as someone mentioned - it is more worthwhile to just go grind or quest instead of trying to gather the roe.

There are 3 possibilities for this.
1- ZoS was aiming to increase the value of perfect roe and ambrosia considering it is an endgame item. Adding to the challenge basically, something that has proven effective in many other games. That they did all of this without thinking about the time deficiency, where they should have just made the ambrosia fragments harder to get instead.
2- ZoS realizes that there is a time deficiency in that you would make more progress leveling without the ambrosia if you didn't bother gathering the perfect roe, and they did this to encourage the sales of 'crown store xp scrolls'.
3- ZoS fully understands the situation, and believes it is balanced. Ambrosia is still worthwhile to make and sell though I would fear xp scrolls stealing that market (I have had a hard time selling my ambrosia lately).

As it is, you should ignore fishing for perfect roe unless you intend to sell it or use it to make ambrosia to sell. If you are looking to get that xp bonus then try to buy ambrosia from guild kiosks to help make the market for perfect roe more worthwhile and profitable.

Personally there are times when I like to kick back and relax. Fishing is a good way to spend that time, and I see getting perfect roe as a surprise bonus that will save/make me a couple thousand gold.

I been farming for perfect roe on Craglorn since the DLC TG came out. I haven't found any so far and I have skinned around 400 so far and still NADA. like a myth, I haven't seen a PO ever.

Can you explain this is a End Game item?

Do I need to finish the game to get a PO?

I only fish when I'm bored and that is rare in this game. When I started playing someone in the guild gave me the pro tip that perfect roe was a great way to earn some cash. I quickly discovered this was not the case for me. I don't like selling and the droprate is so poor I rather go steal stuff or farm for mats.

I will be fishing one day just for the achievements.

I have a similar experience but it's for the amrosia fragment drops - I've got like 10 pieces with one char (over 1 month) pre TG. After TG I have gotten none with 6 chars and doing writs every day

The rates seem the same. That said, I feel there could be a few improvements;

Green fish have a 4x drop rate multiplier to perfect roe, blue should have 6x multiplier to dropping perfect roe, and purples should have 12x drop rate to dropping perfect roe

New areas, like Hew's Bane currently, should give a double fishing bonus. It was probably a mistake that Wrothgar gave this upon Orsinium's release, but it was a good way to encourage folks to go to the zone.

Random under populated zones should give double fish for a few days, to encourage fishing there

I only decided to start fishing yesterday. So I have no basis for comparison. However, I got one Perfect Roe from 114 fish. Today my boyfriend got 3 Perfect Roe from 172 fish. Not sure if that info helps in any way.

When my wife and i were working towards Master Angler the drop rate between each of us seemed to be 1 roe per 100 fish. Sometimes we got luckier and got 2-3 and sometimes went 400 fish without one. Sounds like you had really good luck.

We need a fishing skill line!

A guild mate is apparently bored and is putting a spreadsheet together with all of the data, including where it's caught, types of fish , roe, etc. His numbers so far a bit over 1.7%

I expect the rate to go down a bit once he gets a statistically significant data size. But at least anecdotally the numbers seem to be the same (or slightly better) than before the update.

My RNG luck has also run out since TG. Almost 600 fish since the patch and only 1 perfect roe. I have the psijic ambrosia recipe and use them for leveling alts and making a little gold on the side. My supply is being depleted since my drop rate tanked. You are not alone!

My best ever experience was 1 Perfect Roe out of 3 fish skinned. I stopped at that point and went afk to get a lotto ticket.

I'm personally up to 800 plus fish and zero perfect roe.

I would absokutke love to run the fold Orsinium food on my stam sorc or stam DK since they each require quite a bit magica to get the utility out of the build.

Can't buy it don't have the coin and can't seem to find it.

Perfect Roe is I elf those things.

I've notice a sever decline dreugh wax über the last month or so and up tick in tempering alloy.

Why you don't occasionally get a perfect roe from writs is beyond me. For the record I'm not talking about a lot but occasionally I every 10 - 20 writs would be nice for people who would like to use the gold Orsinium food.
