Eso needs weekly or monthly events?

In light of this recent cake event bugs aside th is like pretty much the only event I've seen in eso and strange enough the only mmorpg or rpg with mmo qualities to not have any events period aside from forum raffles and story of the dead.
Now I think eso needs some special events to het the life blood back flowing. The following are the event ideas we should have

1:refine extraction rate up higher chance of extracting all tempers by refining by 25% for x amount of days

2: upgrade success increase event all upgrades gain higher success chance and cost 1 less temper per color quality

3: delve/public exp up doing daily delves or delves in general get a 50% exp buff.

4:half repair cost event(admittedly not mpst extreme event but saving gold is saving gold)

5:bonus gold event 50% increase in amount of gold from drops and quests.

6:undaunted experience event 30% more exp on group dungeons.

These are some ideas I've seen in many games adjusted for eso. Some may say it'll break economy etc but at the same time some people just need that reason to log in some days. Save the non trader crafter/refiners some gold and earn them some extra gold to buy from the farmers and crafters. if these events were added as maybe once a month or maybe sat/sun events weekly it won't hurt the economy and help kick start some players who are just too bored to get back in game.

Keep topic constructive and on topic blaming bugs and lag is not even remotely related to the topic. There are plenty of other topics to vent those concerns.

I'd like to have events but first is a working game.

I know...many games have bugs and that's fine but let's first get to a point where the bugs are silly stuff like....mount and ride standing up or NPCs start fighting guards as bugs.

Not...ZOS event doesn't even work as explained or not being able to Rez after dying with soul gems in inventory or certain champion point Passives not working as intended or class skills behaving or radical in PvE or PvE...or ppl being able to spam ultimates non-stop for 10 secs straight or ppl not taking dmg in PvP or crashing and support not knowing why or 32 bit playing different than 64 bit or guards killing cause the bounty isn't really gone......list goes on.....

Priorities to me should be....fix your game before events and more DLC

It would sure make the game better if there was more events. Just yesterday was the last day for an event Halo 5 had, and I was thinking how cool it would be if ESO did more events similar to the Jubilee cake thing. A while back on PC there was a thing in which respeccing only costed 100 gold for the entirety of your character compared to 100 gold per point, however it was removed on the next patch which happened to be on the Monday patch day a week later. I have since switched to Xbox One and would like similar limited time events like that, they all could have different effects on the game that would make things more interesting.

WE need events that will make game more fun and break from normal thing we do in game but i would say only monthly events so you have time to enjoy for as for me i work 2 shift and this week i work evening and get home around 22:54 which mean this Anniversary thing ESO have now i will only have chance to enjoy this weekend which i think is sad for i will not have time to even start lvl up my alt anything.

So i guess i wont lvl my alt this weekend at all i will get Cake but this is all :(

I like the idea of weekly events only on weekends make it have to scroll through all the events I listed in a loop that way obe isn't over exploited for a good duration.

Not gonna like only mmo I've played with no events seasonal or otherwise. .. and no a polar bear or a scare crow crown costume don't count.

Most of the games I played have some ki da monthly or weekly exp drops or quest event going on that just makes progression feel good. Atm I'm at cp cap on 4 vr 16s of all classes all i got is waiting on undaunted helm vendor and page farming once a day in wrothgar.... snore fest no incentive no hey I can gain this extra exp and gold I'm at a dead sea and since this dlc was shorter than the skip tutorial button...

Sounds like a great idea, and a simple/easy way to make the game feel more alive (not saying it's dead, but alive in a sense that it feels constantly updated) and caring of the players. It's a fun thing that can allow everyone to earn unique rewards while the events are open. Only pros can come from this I think.

Surely it would work.... no way to bug this out, right?

I say no as they can't even get an XP cake in without bugging it, dlc generally breaks more than they fix, this idea would just give then more regular intervals to break stuff.

OP I love this idea so I just thought of some stuff ( literally in 2minutes while reading your post )

The Khajiit carnival ! ( A band of Khajiit with caravans moving through Tamriel ) with a carnival / almost circus like theme to them where you can play games, quest ect.

Argonian swimming & fishing event ( obviously many people will skip these, so just add a big water like monster / world boss thing for those people to kill ) you get like little flags in the water you need to interact with in the water ( similar to waypoints ) to be able to interact with the next one. There are prizes involved

I would say a Nord hunting event in Skyrim would be cool ( maybe like a "Great Werewolf" or "Ancient Mammoth" ) ?

Woodelves can be something related to the green pact ( I don't have a woodelf so I can't really think of anything )

High Elf can have an arcane event ( the Moons of Nirn aligned or something and now Mundus has enabled all those able to wield magic to become stronger and use new abilities ) The sky can be all glowly with Northern Lights and many magical sparkles all around. They should think of content I just came up with this in 2mins

Redguards can have a warriors event similar to their Yokuda...

Imperials can have a fare or my personal favourate a horse race

Orcs can have a fist fight / wrestling event

And same goes for all races.

ZOS has already stated that they are planning to do events in the future. They did the RP event on the PTS for Heart's Day and now the anniversary on Live. It is just a matter of time before we see more. However, I don't think that weekly is good as they will loose their specialness. Monthly would be good.... AND as long as they don't forget the quarterly event that is known as DLC launch day. Speaking of which, we are in Q2 now... Where is my DBH?

TSW has great events every 2-3 months that anyone can participate in.
Also, they have random xp bonus weekends, not just as an anniversary gift.
These things are good for the game, they always bring people back.

Yes! Some of the coolest things about MMOs are because of their constant community events. But this cake thing is the most I've seen since Ps4 launch. They really need to add something that is seasonal at least.

I know I'll get chastised for saying this, but WoWs community events are some of the best I've ever seen. They even have a carnival that arrives every so often. A faire with just random games and funny prizes like fireworks and baloons. Maybe it's cheesy, but it's depth that hits the right areas for things to do.

WoW also has Easter Egg hunts around Easter, they've got several other events too that happen every year. Yet not one set in stone for ESO.

I'm guessing they'll add something down the road....but knowing Zeni, I bet they'll charge crowns just to participate in it. lol

Yes but make it optional just like with the cake. Maybe not everyone would be okay with having their xp buffed for example.
I feel like the community got together during this week (saw a tons of new characters doing quest/grinding in lower level zones which are often empty), so this can definitely be a good thing.
Also maybe weekly is too frequent, I wouldn't want to feel like the game is telling me what to do with my time in Tamriel, so definitely seasonal or monthly.

If we have an event every week, they stop being special!

I would like to see some lore-appropriate holidays happening every year, though.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Events don't have to give a stat boost of discount. Lotro did great events with statless festive costumes and masks etc given out, these are great community events but couldn't really work on console as the console version of the game really doesn't have any community, hence people calling it a online single player rpg.

The genesis of fun events has to be community and until we get text chat there isn't one, on console at least. Unfortunately, it would be difficult for ZOS to release pc only events due to the console crowd asking where their event was.

At the moment apart from group delves etc the really is no need to communicate with other players (talking from a pve perspective) . This is what is fundamentally wrong with this game at the moment......but ,things are getting better.

Edit to clarify, we don't have the option for fun events yet but I believe they are a possibility looking at the direction the game is going.

This. Let's get the game fixed first.

Monthly is too frequent and would make the game feel too theme park. 2 or 3 times a year would be enough.

It is related. More time and resources spent on in game events means less time and resources on fixes. They aren't going to dedicate a whole new team and hire new staff for events. They are going to pull from somewhere else.

I think people are aware of this.

However, in the spirit of the thread it would be nice if people would post what they want to see as holiday effects.

Any post could be hijacked with "fix the game" posts. I'm sure the OP started this as a positive brainstorming thread......there are plenty of negative complaining threads this could be posted in.

I agree with that. Too much events would be overhelming and would not have as much impact as rare events. The Jubilee cake is bringing back a lot of my guildies that were playing FFXIV, WOW and BDO, but if it was every week, they could never play those other games and have the pleasure to come back for a special things as event of that sort would not be special anymore.

The title and poll were primarily worded asking IF you think ESO needs more events, not WHAT events you want to see. Suggestions on types was secondary. If the intent was otherwise, it should have been worded differently.

In any case, the lag and other things are big enough issues, you will never have a topic about development time and/or resources where those things aren't brought up at some point. People are leaving the game because of them. More events won't keep people here if they don't fix things.
