If youre not hardcore you can do two things.
a) make a stam sorc with whatever skills you want +steeltornado and type lfg in zone (or however that works on console)
b) stay (and stack) magicka and stick to the easiest specc to play in solo/small scale PvP ( no disrespect to good sorcs, but hardened and mines just turn this into a very beginner freindly class)
On the other hand you can also invest some time into your charackter, and your skills as a player, to make a solo/small scale stam sorc work, which will probably need redgourd for the best results, but can also work acceptably fine with any other race. (I played magicka sorc on khajiit until 1.7 where i switched to stam).
I run a wood elf stam sorc sniper and I love it. I use hunding's rage and night mother's all gold with a 3 piece agility jewelry set. I have 4k weapon damage and 36800 stam and able to hit people for 13k snipes out of stealth. I have also been able to one shot vamps and werewolves using camo hunter. Basically, only use magicka for crit surge and streak. I use bow for both bars.
bar one:
snipe, camo hunter, streak, crit surge, bound armaments - ult flawless dawnbreaker
bar two:
bombard, thundering presence, vigor, crit surge, bound armaments - ult power overload
overload bar just replace bombard with retreating maneuver or streak
It is a sniper build so yes if I get in a melee fight most of the time I get killed. But, with streak, vigor, and dodging I can usually avoid melee fights. If I am forced into a melee fight that is the best time to switch to overload.
I like this build because it isn't the standard wrecking blow / steal tornado build you see in most stamina builds. It is also different than most NB sniper builds. It has been a lot of fun.
I have a Vet 1 High Elf Sorc, and I've been wanting to go a bit different and maybe play stam on the Sorc, but I'm wondering if being High Elf will hinder the build at all being that High Elf is all magicka passives? Or am I better off staying Magicka? I've only returned to the game 2 weeks ago after being gone for about 5 months, and I'm not hardcore, Most of the gear I can craft I only have 6-7 traits on most pieces.
Any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

Ok cool I may try that out although I'm not a huge fan of bow play in this game for some reasn haha. Where do you get the agility jewelry set?
