Random FPS drops - CPU threading problem

amaniacub17_ESO
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_AlexTardif

I've been seeing 10fps at times, but normal is 75-80fps.
Core i7-950 (4 real, 4 virtual cpus) @3.2Ghz
12G triple chan RAM
Radeon R9-380X
1280x1024 rez
64bit client
Settings maxed, no grass

I've got multiple monitors and decided to see what the processor is doing when there's an FPS drop.

Here's what normal CPU usage looks like @75fps (ignore proc 6, I've currently got a system interrupt problem I haven't sorted yet, but it's constant)

Here's what it looks like when FPS drops to 10 or so

Notice the threads on proc 1 vanish entirely, 2 kicks up a bit, 3 ends up nearly pegged and 8 drops off about half. As soon as the threads go back to normal distribution, FPS returns to normal.

Just for completeness, here are 2 captures of the 32bit client (90fps)

10fps

Can anyone else confirm that this is happening to them too?

@amaniacub17_ESO Thank you, this is super helpful! We have a pretty finite number of things that could have choked up the CPU like this, so this helps narrow it down.

This is the same bug I got on the 32-bit client. One thread maxes out and the rest are untouched.

Just chiming in I have the same problem. Core i7 5930K, 32GB of RAM, GTX 980ti... and there's times I can be standing, looking at a wall, nothing going on around me, and the FPS starts to drop around 20-30FPS.

I came to this thread because both clients (32 & 64) are suffering from a micro stutter, even standing still in town, there is a persistent random freeze of the game.

So, having checked out the resource monitor, both clients push one of the cores on my i7-4790K to 100% whilst leaving all the others ticking over.

Not sure if this is unrelated but thought I'd point it out.

    Hi there

Can I ask if this is Similar to my issue which I haven't reported yet

I am not using the 64 bit client just normal 32 bit I guess

Since the beginning of TG I have noticed randomly

    different areas
    different classes
    different skills

    6th gen i7
    16GB DDR4
    4GB ddr 5 graphics
    M.2 SSD in use 550/520 r/w

the FPS of my laptop is at 99 constant then will go down to 8 fps for either

could be 3 times an hour or 5 times in a day so random

1: 10-20 seconds or so then back up
2: go to another area i.e enter a door and its fine again
3: use left/click right click and suddenly back to 90-100 fps again

its not the laptop I know that for sure but it is odd this only happened since TG

Exactly; is getting really annoying; it's actually better in Wrothgar for me than somewhere in my original alliance, like Reaper's March, where it's much more frequent. Doesn't have to be in town either, or in combat. Happens in both 32&64 clients.

Rarely happened before TG, if ever.

    I have a 3930K @ 4.5 GHz.

Out of the 12 cores (6 CPU and 6 logical or Hyperthreaded) I always see the same thing. Only 1 Core is maxed the rest arent barely used if at all by the game.

Affinity is set to 12 etc etc.

Ive tinkered with the usersettings file as well and that does not help.
