The items that you get in the coldharbour casket at the end of the tutorial bit are worth 0 gold (this is to stop people just creating new characters, selling that gear, and deleting them, getting gold for no effort).

Although it can seem like a slow process at first, it isn't too difficult to make gold. All quests give gold rewards, you can sell your loot to NPC merchants if you don't want to wear it or use it to level crafting, you can sell the mats and other bits and pieces that you gather to other players (a lot easier if you join a trading guild).

    Hope you have fun!

some items are worth 0 gold. I would be on the look out for that. also check in your buy back option to see if they were in fact 0 gold if so there isn't an issue if they were worth gold then I would submit a ticket for that.

Also weapons you find on racks or on tables are usually worth nothing, and you get nothing for deconstructing them. Ignore them and grab loot from chests and enemies.

unless you steal them then they have a value and you gain xp for deconstructing them. but it isn't much xp or money

Thanks! I really don't want to "cheat" in any way. Made a quest I regrettet my choice in. Also it was fun to explore a new character when I had more experience.

Do I have any use of the things in the tutorial?

I am really new to this sort of games but I really like this! Great graphics, great controlls. Tried "Age of Conan" but didn't like this as much.

If I have several characters, do they live side by side in some way? Can I send gold and things between them?

The exploring is really fun and trying to get things and skills in the game. I don't like when you can buy things for real money and get advantages in the game.

Your bank is shared between all your characters, so its easy to share things between them. They also share mount training.

You'll be able to replace that tutorial stuff fairly quickly with better gear - you can get gear as loot from enemies, out of locked chests, as quest rewards, or you can steal it (if you can get away with it!) Or you could gather some materials (iron for heavy armor, rawhide for medium, jute for light) and make your own, everyone can make up to level 14 gear without having to spend any skillpoints in crafting.

You can pass stuff between characters by going to the bank in town, putting stuff in the bank from 1 character then logging onto the other and take it out. Same with gold. Also if you buy a mount it is available for all characters on your account, but each character has to train their riding skills separately.

If your toon is fresh outta the toaster I would advise you farming Jute in your starting area. The yellow resin you can get from decon is over 4k on PC NA right now.

    Thanks all for the answers!

Another thing I wonder about is when you die. Your equipment take damage as I understand it, any other "disadvantage"?

While you can get by with dropped gear for the most part you will probably want to explore the crafting skills available in the game. Whether you decide to draft or not, here is a website that lists the sets available in the game:

    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets

If you do decide to craft your own set gear, you will want to start researching traits early and often. The better crafted sets in the game require you to have multiple traits researched on each piece of gear that you want to produce. By default every new player can research 1 trait on 1 item in each equipment crafting profession at a time. Every time you learn a trait on each equipment slot the time required to research doubles, so this is a lengthy process to learn them all. There is a passive in each skill line that allows you research up to 3 items at a time and also shortens the time required.
I would recommend not just farming jute but also all ores and woods as well, the gold improvement matts that you gain from doing this can be stashed for your own use at higher level or sold for good gold. Dreugh Wax (clothing) sells for about 4k ea, tempering alloy (blacksmithing) sells for about 7k ea, and rosin (woodworking) for about 2k ea. You will want to decon all the gear that drops from NPC's, that is best way to level up your crating skills. Doing crafting writs is another good way to level them as well, and they do reward gold matts as well.
Whatever armor type you prefer, you will want to slot at least 1 of each type (light, med, hvy) to level all the skill lines. There are advantages to having multiple armor types worn. Access to the additional passives and the undaunted skill line passives are good reasons to wear different types of armor. In addition each armor skill line offers a good active skill. You might also want to change the way you play your character later as well.

^You need to invest in a perk to get anything over green tempers. Until then, just sell the raw mats on a guild store.

Not really, just make sure you repair your equipment at merchants regularly as it takes damage all the time. You can res yourself with a soul gem, or res at the closest shrine. If you die in a boss fight, the boss will go back to full health. You can also buy repair kits which you can use to repair your gear during a quest, which can be useful in dungeon bosses if you die repeatedly, so your armour doesn't become useless. In pvp if you get killed by another player, your armour doesn't even get damaged.

For starters, do the crafting intro quests, grab and refine some basic resources, then craft yourself a basic starter set of gear. Then go to the starter isle, do the easy quests there for loot and gold. Then... start the usual adventurer tradition of grabbing all you can, keeping the stuff that brings profit, and throwing away the worthless stuff. Kill mos and loot their corpses. Find treasure chests in all those hidden corners of the map, pick their locks and grab the contents. Gather crafting stuff, and refine to sell. Take care not to get caught when the stuff you take belongs to someone else (aka, stealing). Do all that and you will be sitting on a well padded purse before you know it! ;)
(Of course, there will also be things to pay - gear repairs, backpack upgrades, etc. The real moneymaker at low levels is thievery, at veteran ranks you will also gain an nice steady cash flow from questing and loot selling - the really good income comes from selling rare things in guild stores, naturally.)

    Just do quests.

Or you could sell some iron ore for 30-40g each.
