Merchant and Banker Should of Been Free To EOS Plus Members

First of all what does an ESO Plus member get besides some increased experience gain, free DLC content as long as you remain active and additional crows every month. I can one time purchase the DLC and be done with it and I can purchase Crowns. Once a player reaches v16 what is the point of experience gain. I now see no reason to continue my 3 month subscription for what the ESO plus member is getting. The Merchant and Banker should of been free as long as a player keep his or her subscription up. Time to save some money and quit getting ripped off being a plus member.

Actually, they would make a lot of sense as a subscriber perk. They provide a non-game-breaking convenience that could be a reason for non-subscribers to sub. If you subscribe and get used to that convenience, then when your sub expires and you suddenly don't have it anymore you'll notice the lack of it a lot more than you notice the lack of a 10% bonus to XP/gold/inspiration.

In many ways I think they make more sense as a subscriber perk than crafting bags do. I mean, I want crafting bags more, but I think the assistants make more sense as a subscriber perk.

Edited because I don't think I was clear about just how much I want crafting bags. I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THEM!!!!! But I still think assistants would make more sense as a subscriber perk.

Would make a heck of a lot more sense than crafting bags being exclusive.

My faith in ZOS ability to effectively design this game is pretty much gone. Their decisions are head-scratching.

No issue with being a subscriber perk. If you un-sub, all the stuff gets mailed back to you in a crate or something.

Makes me wonder if they even thought of this and if so, why the took it off the table.

Giving them away free doesnt pay the bills tho. I dont really even see them being useful. Maybe the bank one but without guild bank access its kinda pointless for me too. I dont mind them selling them to other people tho. Even if they were cheap Id still pass I think.

Well since it sounds like they coded them as "pets" since they replace your pet when they are activated, and pets are permanent items in your collection, that might have something to do with making them a permanent purchase instead of tied to ESO+ status.

But yeah, developing a new category of assistants with use tied to ESO+ status would have made a lot of sense.

I have unsubbed around october last year, because I was fed up with the way the game was going. Haven't resubbed yet and to be honest: the banker and merchant are nice to have, but are no reason for me to sub again.
Crafting bags on the other hand...

Encouraging people to subscribe does pay the bills though - it's a much more steady source of income than crown pack sales. In business a reliable income of $15/month is more valuable than an income of $180/year that fluctuates wildly on a month-by-month basis.

Having them as an eso subscriber perk certainly makes more sense than having a virtual pet with extremely limited functionality cost the same price as two whole dlc put together.

Sure some people will pay silly amounts for them. Had they made them reasonably priced more people would fork out for them just to complete their collection, but with fully functional merchants and bankers just a wayshrine away they're not worth the price.

As someone's already mentioned, having them as a perk of subbing would make more sense since you'd miss the ease of that that extra functionality should your sub lapse.

I can see the argument for giving them to subscribers, but I can equally see the arguments against them doing so. Perhaps one answer would be two-tier pricing, with a substantial discount for subscribers.

It should be "should have". When spoken people usually say "should've" which is a contraction of "should have" but because that sounds the same as "should of" people often incorrectly write "should of" instead of "should have". It's a pretty common mistake that I see a lot.

Now that there is something actually worth buying with crowns apart from DLC, subbing makes more sense. It seems wasteful to sub and get a bunch of crowns with nothing useful to spend them on. $16/month is way too much to pay for DLC. But if you use the crowns you get to buy the assistants (maybe even waiting until they are on sale) and if you get value out of the crafting bags (which I know I would, especially for provisioning mats which can be easy money if you craft in bulk using an addon), then the sub is starting to provide value.

If I buy 2 5500 packs next time they go on sale, that is about $44 for 2 assistants. That is 2 and a half months of ESO+ and I still have to buy the DB and I don't get crafting bags. It almost makes me wish that instead of buying crowns on sale and buying TG and a 5500 pack on sale, I just waited for DB and subbed.

/agree that these should of been perks to ESO+. Looks to me like a large double dip, expecialy with the prices of both these items.

I seen this happen in STO, and in that game now there is NO benefit to paying a sub any longer. Everything in that game to advance/progress your toon is now a store item, sub or not. I have a lifer in that game and haven't logged in for years now.

If this keeps up with ESO, I'll have to make the same decision I made with STO.

We need people in this thread to write whether or not they are currently subscribed ...

I am NOT an ESO+ member and I would not have a problem with them being perks for members. I believe it would get more people to subscribe and actually be more profitable for ZOS in the long run. I don't sub because I like to own the DLC's but 5000 crowns is too expensive.

I subscribe when a new expansion comes out until I acquire enough crowns to buy it, then I cancel my sub again. This time, I just had to pay for one month and I've now un-subscribed again.

If the crafting bags actually turn out to hold "virtually unlimited" amounts of material as Matt Frior claimed they would, I suspect I'll lean towards permanantly subscribing again. Of course, my expecation of "virtually unlimited" may differ significantly from Mr Frior's.

More perks, providing they're nothing that gives an unfair advantage over non-subscribers, would make me more likely to remain subscribed.

I am an ESO Plus member, and I wouldn't care one way or the other if the banker/vendor were plus perks. They'd be nice to have, but not having them makes no difference to me.

I might have bought them (incrementally, considering I only have 1,100 crowns currently and no way of replenishing them at the moment) were they not 5,000 crowns, but as it is, for both, on two servers, ~140Euros is extracting the urine.

The subscriber discount idea, while great at first glance, is high flawed.

The discount would have to be so meager that it does not offset the sub cost or designed that the player loses the assistant if they unsub.

Either way it becomes pointless to offer this as a sub reward.
