A centralized search system would be a great improvement, I've always said that.
At this point tho and since it seems no one is even selling it, going and farming it would be your best option.

Got my vote on a centralized search system.

I sell low level mats all the time. I think I have 1200 iron bars in the bank that I'll be selling next.

I can I count as no one though.

The guild vendor system is my biggest gripe about the entire game. It is a monumentally poor piece of game design. A mediocre idea very poorly implemented. Too much legwork, too much trudging around the map trying to find things (often without success) and a deeply clunky and frustrating UI.

The concept of guild vendors in itself isn't the problem. It could work if properly designed and made more user friendly. It's the way the vendors are distributed all over the world and thus difficult to access. It's hard to know where many of the stores are or if they are worth the effort of visiting. Also, a lot are inaccessible unless you've done Cadwells to unlock the other alliance zones. And the UI is just plain horrible (better with addons, but still frustrating).

    Some suggested improvements would be:

    1) A central register, updated weekly, of where all the current traders are to be found (so you can find your favourite store if they've moved) and an estimate of stock levels (so you can weed out those waste of space stores).

    2) Assistants that you can send out to do shopping research on your behalf, for a fee. They will report back with the items that match your search criteria and where to find them. You can then travel to those stores and make your purchases. To prevent speculating, assistants would have limited searches per day.

    3) A greatly improved UI. Yes addons help, but the default UI needs improving too for sellers as well as buyers.

After returning to the game this week (stopped playing for 8 months), one of the first things I try to do is find some jute at a guild trader to make some gear for a new character.

Nearly two dozen guild stores later, after crossing half of tamriel in search of such a basic crafting material, I gave up.

Whoever decided that the economy should be this fractured and disparate should be fired, and even that would be too good for him. I said it back before guild traders were a thing, and I'm saying it again: This system blows.

Not only do you have to search half the ingame world and dozens of traders to find the item you're after (assuming you can even find it, or at a reasonable price), but the trader system doesnt even allow you to search by text, so you've got to scroll through pages and pages of useless shite. This kind of rudimentary field search isnt even good enough for an atari, what makes them think it works here?

It's no wonder I quit playing this game.

Out of curiosity,if you quit the game, why are you posting here?
I have to go hunting for things at different cities where there are more Guild Traders too,and sometimes dont find what I want too.But I dont quit the game for it.

People.just go get tour own mats if you cant find them the easy way.Do what most people do and hunt for them.

I quit 8 months ago, and recently decided to try it out again now that some new content and features have been added.

No amount of content makes up for a broken core though.

While I agree that the guild trader system has more cons than pros, I have made 1 of my characters a "master crafter". Just to prevent things like that from happening. Meaning, they are capable of crafting any: Drink, food, potion, set, style, etc. Even going as far as maxing out the Keen Eye passive ability on them. This is to insure no matter what, I am always ready to provide for myself in an independent fashion. I highly advise others do the same. No need to pay anyone for anything, or search guild traders for crafting-base items. Just farm it yourself, refine it yourself, keep all the "goodies" from refining yourself, and be reliant on yourself. And it feels wonderful to do that.

Do you know how good it feels to be casually passing through an area, and see numerous crafting materials just lit-up? Especially in the Wrothgar or Hew's Bane. It's almost as though you're strolling through a supermarket, and don't have to pay a penny for any grocery you want off the shelves.

Your comments suggest a lack of understanding of how an economy works; a general outline can be described by the phrase, "Supply & Demand". Honestly I have to ask; how many players, new players, or players with low level characters, do you think are out there that are searching for Jute? I just recently placed all of my mats in my Trade Guild Store; a decent Trade Guild I do good sales with. Bear in mind I was an atypical mat hoarder so I put up quite a bit; and big surprise, I got a big chunk back 30 days latter because few people want full stacks of low level mats.

Agree people are leveling really fast to the point there is no huge demand for low level mats.

Or, you know, walk around in an early zone and get FREE jute.

    Free!

    Imagine it. FREE jute.

    Smh.

    Wait a second...what's the catch?

those areas are flooded by newbies and farmed clean. ;)

So you left PC because you "knew more people would be playing on PS4" and yet now you're complaining that nobody is selling mats that you need on PS4, however, on PC I can find Jute in most Guild Traders all the time. It appears that your 'knowing more people would be playing on PS4' has backfired a bit, because PC is alive and thriving, in fact, many console players want to transfer to PC because of the better QoL we experience here.
