Losing Ultimate.

I was having an issue tonight where upon entering combat my ultimate's would drop from full to partially full and then be unable to activate until I was in combat for 10s or so. I could build them up on one add pack and then before starting the second add pack they would be full but upon pull regardless of which ultimate I was using at the time it would immediately drop to 3/4ths full and not even start filling again until the fight had been going for at least 10 seconds or more and then I would have to wait for them to slowly cap before using. Which often resulted in considerably less optimal use. Has anyone else encountered an issue like this? I play on xbox1.

Are you proccing Molag Kena? If not it sounds like a bug.

Also are you a DK? I've heard reflective scales drains your resources of the type of attack you are reflecting, but I don't think adds use ultimates so...

I am playing a DK but not using reflective scales. Just got Kena helm the other day, how does the weapon damage proc drop your ult?

Ah, am reading that increased cost applies to Ultimate's and you don't really need two consecutive light attacks to proc just two light attacks at all even if they are spaced by an ability. This makes a ton more sense, I was really frustrated last night with it. That's too easy to work around though.

When kena procs, it increases all resource costs for the duration by 33%. This applies to ultimate too. If you plan on casting your ult while kena overload is active, you want to have at least 33% more stored ultimate than it's actual cost, so that it will be available during the proc.

Congrats on getting your helm btw. It's one helluva tough farm for a lot of people. Now begins the resource management game! Kena is much harder to sustain on some classes than others; for example, NBs have the easiest time due to siphoning attacks. DKs rely on ultimates for resource management, so you may want to entertain the idea of proccing kena at specific points, rather than going for 100% uptime.

Yeh it sounds like two piece kena.

You're not losing ultimate. The cost is increasing, so your bar then shows less.

Test it out, but certainly sounds like it.

Unless wings is still bugged and you're getting overloaded.

Thanks, I have had to adjust a little for resource reasons, as long as I'm not getting focused by boss or adds its NP. I have a tendency to light attack more often when I'm having to dodge roll and kite a bunch and that's the only time I've noticed where I accidentally proc Kena and then blank myself on stamina. Doing a Snipe+fullychargedheavy back into snipe, while maintaining dots for single target, isn't too bad, however my usually aoe rotation Arrow Barrage>Caltrops>Bombard>HA>Bombard>HA>Bombard can get expensive quick if I take the time to proc Kena.

Yeah, I had I similar issue on my stam sorc as well. I found that caltrops was a regular hindrance to my ability to sustain. I recently heard that caltrops doesn't stack when multiple players use it, and tested it with some friends. We discovered this is true; the damage on caltrops will only tick for one player at a time. Two players can throw it, and it will tick for both of them throughout the duration, but if the damage tick is credited to player A, then player B is not also doing damage. It frequently alternatives whose caltrops is doing the damage, but never ticks for both players simultaneously. It sounds confusing, but the takeaway is that caltrops does not stack. So, if you're running with another stam build, whoever has the highest WD/stam should run caltrops, and the other can do something else.
