Okay so eso's patcher has always been abit wobbly but this last patch takes the cake, I go to download the patch and then get the usual error, so far ive seen 210 and 206 it then asks for a repair which I then attempt, so far ive had 2 BSOD, 2 crash to crash report and 1 pc total freeze up, now trying for the 6th time, wonder what I get next in the lucky dip. I recently patched another mmo yesterday and have recently installed a game so im not convinced this is something to do with my pc.

Lot of us have been in the same boat from time to time, at least with the errors. So, you're right, unlikely to be your pc.

If it's telling you something about a patch manifest error, don't do a repair - just close the launcher and start the game from the .exe file. I haven't used the launcher to actually launch the game in months, and there's no need to.

Yep, the Launcher/patcher is crap. But there are some work-arounds. First, NEVER repair unless it is a last resort. On patch days, I typically watch the Launcher. It frequently will begin downloading, and after a short time stops with an error message, and changes status to REPAIR. I close and restart the Launcher. Sometimes this is enough for the patch to complete. Other times, the Launcher never downloads files, in which case I reboot PC. So far, rebooting has done the trick to get the Launcher to update correctly. I'm guessing if I dug deeper I could find a file that's corrupted or not closing when it should after the Launcher fails to update correctly. Bottom line is try rebooting before going the REPAIR route. We're talking a few minutes versus hours to be back online.

If there was a computer-crashing bug in the patch or launcher then everyone would be screaming blue murder. The fact that you're the only one reporting it suggests that the problem is at your end. Yes, there have been plenty of issues with both patches and the launcher since the game was launched but they haven't resulted in BSODs.

When did you last play before the patch, what are your system specs including OS, and have you ensured you have at least 20% of your hard drive free to accommodate the patch download/install as well as the OS? Check whether you can actually run several other games now as well.

okay update on my patching attempts, it would seem that yes in this case I did have a bad stick so the BDOS solved, so I ripped that out like a bad tooth and in the bin with you, however the patching was still a horrible experience, I tried to do the ignore the repair trick but didn't work so it started from the beginning once more, second time I ran the repair and it decided once again to download a big 6gig chunk, seems to do this everytime, oh the first time I tried it said the download was corrupted or something, second time I didn't bother looking, its all turned into one big blur now, anyway after a late night and now being 2pm the next day I finally have a play button to push. Oh did I mention that this morning I noticed the client had somehow defaulted to the EU client and was trying to patch that and download that client instead of the NA client I had it set to and play on, I did not change any settings either, patch days I have learned to dread, even more so now :)
