Colderharbor- "The Endless War"- who did you pick? SPOILERS

I have done this quest multiple times, and I keep picking Angof , as he is the only one who seems to regret having been evil and seems to want to make amends. Who did you pick, and did they end up being useful in the assault on Molag Bal?

I had not been in Coldharbor for a long time either, as I have 3 VR16s and a VR14 that I have been using. I had a level 43 that I wanted to get to VR1 before they drop the VR ranks so they would get the instaboost when that happens. I just remember hating Thallik and Estre, and they didn't seem to be at all remorseful.
I also wonder if finding every missing person really helps in the final assault anyway. I always got everyone that I could find, but I think you can go with just the king and the head of the mage's guild. I should have tried that this time around, as I have the cap on CP and it is a walkthrough.

I think I have picked a different one each time, it does not really matter on the outcome who you pick, so it all comes down to Role and who your Character would choose based on that.

The only consistency I have with this part of the game is

Valerian. He started it, he gets to finish it.

I've done it 5 times now and I've picked all of them at some point but it's been awhile (last one to do it is long at V16)

I don't remember how useful any of them were.
Not that you actually need any help on that stuff.

I picked Angof the first time, due to me being a pure DC player so I was more familiar with him. But even so, I wouldn't have picked Estre or Thallik

- Estre: she seemed nice, but a creepy nice. Like the kind of woman that brings you cookies and milk, but with this huge knife on the side. And when she puts down the tray, the knife all of a sudden flies off and gets stuck in the chair right between your legs barely missing you, and her saying "Oopsie, my bad" *giggle*
- Thallik: I honestly thought he was a gardener who one day while planting the flowers and digging up the worms in Jorunn's backyard found a corpse and a book called "Necromancy for Dummies"
- Angof: picked him cuz like I said, I was more familiar with him. "Hey Angof, remember the time in Glenumbra where I brutally murdered you by pulling out your own vines and smacking you with them? Good time, huh?"

Yeah rescuing people helps later on. I distinctly remember being in an area with a bunch of elevated platforms connected by up/down catwalks with larger beasties teleporting in, and a team of vamps appearing from puffs of smoke telling me that they'll take care of that bunch and I should run onward.

Yes, rescuing as many citizens as you can does make some differences in those fights, but that is way before you have to choose one for a battle.

I've picked all of them on different characters, depending on what that particular character would be likely to pick.

Angof is the one I pick most often though, as most of my characters are good guys, and Angof is the only one who seems remorseful and who actually wants to make amends.

Anyone ever notice after you do this you have a house in Hollow City and when you mouse over the door it says "Home". Actually your house.

And who you choose defines who your neighbor is... You can always go back and the person you chose lives in the house next door.

I had my laptop at work, so during lunch I checked this out. Yep, Angof is living next door to me.

I'm so glad I didn't pick saving Estre. That would have been embarassing if the Queen ever came to visit in Coldharbor.
"Oh, that lady who tried to murder you? I saved her, and she is now my next door neighbor."

Huh, I noticed that whoever you pick moves into a house in Hollow City, but I never noticed that you have a house of your own next door to them...

I've completed this quest 15 times. I've picked all three choices at least once.

Thallik I've always found to be a complete Richard, and I only picked twice to see the dialogue (once on an EP character, and once on a different alliance). Angof I'm kind of ambivalent about.

I've never liked Estre, but she's the one I mostly gravitate towards; for my Dominion characters it's usually a case of better the devil you know, but in reality it's because I like the mask's stun.

It depends on what character I was playing... but both my mains picked Estre.
Why?
Because my mains are both pact, and Estre is a problem for their enemies. The Dominion, in fact. Whereas Thallik was a problem for the pact, and Angolf a reachman, thus enemy of both pact and covenant. Thus Estre, if freed, would most likely make trouble far from EP lands, destabilizing Ayrenns rule and being a distraction the pact could take advantage of...

Huh. So I've never seen this in my life, but I can confirm the first part of this at least! "Home" is next to the Argonians' House and just around the corner from the Consultants' House. Kireth and Raynor Vanos, Lady Laurent and Stibbons, and Telenger the Artificer can all be found in the Consultants' House.

I can't find the neighbour, though. The house next to "Home" is labelled as "House of Darkness" and can't be entered... the E is greyed out. Maybe the neighbour is only present after you save them and before you finish Coldharbour completely? Or maybe you have to go back at night-time in game?

I went with Angof on my main as he's the only one of the bunch with any real redeeming qualities, but didn't have Intimidate (roleplaying reasons) so saved the mages instead.

My first bank alt went with Estre thinking it would make his Aldmeri Dominion friend happy if he rescued the Dominion mer. XD It helps that Estre is an excellent liar and diplomat. (Seriously. That's the nicest way anyone has ever called me tactless.

)

My next alt will probably go with Thallik just to round out the set, but I'm not keen on him--he's a nobody as far as villains go. He's SO unmemorable I was halfway through the Pact arc with him in it--on my main after doing the Cliffs of Failure quest--before I remembered I'd actually met him previously. He's too generic, and he doesn't have any good qualities. He doesn't even make a good bad guy.

Though since my alt did bring Estre back, some of her dialog mentions she's wanting to make her way back to Summerset. Since she did in fact die, I wonder if that's possible...the Vestige had a minor case of Divine intervention, but Estre's made pacts with Dagon...ooo, possibilities.

I'm picking a different one for all of them. I liked picking Angof the best, despised picking Thallik, and can't wait to pick Estre on my AD character to hear what she has to say about me

. The only thing I don't quite understand is how she ended up in Coldharbour since she was serving Mehrunes Dagon?

@ListerJMC: Mannimarco cut a deal with her in a side dungeon. Here you go, there are a few before that but they're mostly Mannimarco threatening her.

I kept using the chick from the Veiled Heritance on the first couple of characters because Angof seemed too moody to me and I had just killed the Worm Cult Uncle Hermit guy before showing up in Coldharbor. Last play through though I picked Angof.

They all seem to have their own flavor but honestly the Daedra was much more helpful in the end.

That's the house. I completely forgot it was called House of Darkness. Whatever villain you picked does live there.
