Anyone else wish the thieves guild repeatable quests were more imaginative?

I really wish they had put more thought into these repeatable quests. Maybe give them more of a story or make them more interesting and challenging somehow. Instead it's just "pickpocket 10 citizens in Stonefalls" or "steal from a safebox in Auridon". In a few months, I fear that the dark brotherhood repeatables will be more of the same. "Kill 10 citizens in Stonefalls" and so on. I really wanted these repeatables to keep me interested and coming back for more.

I like the current repeatable quests, but I'd like to see more variety as well. Something on the tip board that's a little more like a cross between the things that are on the tip board currently and the quests from the heist board.

In other words, I'd like there to be repeatable quests that send you to specific locations around Tamriel to break into people's homes and steal specific items from chests inside those homes. It could be like the pickpocket quests where you can turn it in for a small reward after going to one location, or you can go the second location and steal from there as well for a medium reward, or you can also go to the third location and steal from there for a large reward.

The problem with this is that the best places to send you for such a quest are the various trespassing locations in Hew's Bane. Without adding similar locations around Tamriel, anywhere you went throughout the rest of the world would be less interesting for this kind of quest.

I would like the Re-Acquisition quests to take me to other places than the 3 it does now.

As for the Pickpocket and Lockbox ones, not sure what they could do with that. However, one benefit I have noticed is I am exploring the Starter Zones more so now and I am discovering the Lore Books that I missed before. The game places quest locked books in various places through out the game to be read if you miss them while doing those instanced quests.

So, it would be nice to have a little more meat or story behind the quests, but I do like that I am given a good reason to go back to the leveling zones.

Maybe a quest to steal from a specific person, breaking into their house. Or a quest to track a stolen item through multiple people to figure out where it is.

I'd like to be able to pick from the available options, rather than get given one at random.

I've said before in another thread, I wasn't aware that giving laundered items to a noble even was one of the tip board quests until about the fifteenth one I picked up, and I only kept doing the repeatables until I got the achievement for doing thirty of them.

Not really sure what else they could do with the thieving repeatables, but a little more variety would be great.

Yes, I probably won't bother with them after I level a given character in TG skill line. I was thinking along similar lines to @UrQuan
I see no reason why they couldn't use almost any locked house for it, there's plenty of them around. We could be going for some special treasure like a necklace or magical item.

Same for Reacquisition ones. The reward on them is nothing once you have the skill line done.

I like the Heists though, even with invisible traps and unpassable guards :#

The heists are absolutely the most fun, despite how buggy they are.

I mean, come on, I disarm a trap, come the same way a little later and can still see that the tripwire is broken from when I disarmed it, and the trap somehow goes off when I pass it? Really? Sheesh...

Still, the heists are the best.

Actually, that's not true. Every time I run a new alt through leveling I find things that have changed. A couple of quests gone, some reworked (usually to make it easier or more clear). Voices changed, sometimes dialog. This wouldn't be a big issue to add some boxes in homes or items in certain pockets and write a bit of dialog.

    Rats in Marbruk anyone?

For me you would think they would have had quest requiring you to steal artifacts from public dungeons, add a mechanism where if you're seen you get teleported out.

When they first announced that you would have to travel to older zones, I was expecting you to pickup quests at other thieves dens, maybe build up reputation with them and bring them into the thieves guild of Hews Bane, a new world order type thing.

They could also of included treasure vaults in each capitals main residence. Multi part quests requiring you to discover patrol routes, shift changes, building plans. You would then have to break-in, crawl through vents etc.

They could have introduced dial combination locks, where you had to listen for a click, record the number until you have the full sequence.

There's so much more to being a thief than pick-pocketing, opening lockboxes and hide & seek heists.

    Fixed that for you.
And no, but I do wish people would stop trying to speak for me.

The point here is wanting to make the replayability on these better. Got any actual ideas to add?

The obvious answer is YES. I cannot think of anything I enjoy doing that wouldn't be better if it were more imaginative.

That said, i think the TG dailies are the best of the lot so far. In orsinium, where i do dailies frequently, you have just the delves and the world bosses.

In TG, you have the delves and world bosses too but you also get daily tip board thievery and daily heists, each with multiple types.

So I am pretty happy with the variety of daily options in TG.

But, would it be even better if they had dozens of or maybe thousands of different unique dailies? Sure. I am all for it.

My main issue with the repeatable quests (and the TG storyline in general) is that they are sorely lacking in variety. The safebox and the countess ones are ok (although I am bitter since the safebox nerf was a direct result of some very poor quest design) but the other three pickpocket quests are basically three different ways to phrase the same task. They could have been much more imaginative.

I would rather the repeatables/quest line be something like:

    1. The safebox one.
    2. The countess one.
    3. Pickpocket X number of items. (although they really should cut the number of items required)
    4. One which sends you to a specific home/shop/place to steal a specific item
    5. Steal 500 gold worth of items in this zone.
    6. Steal/pickpocket incriminating evidence from a snitch/guards. (really risky though)
    7. Alter the ledger at a shop to cover up crimes. (we already have non-interactive papers and books lying on desks in shops, so why not?)

Finally after doing a certain number of quests in a zone, Zeira tells you that the local outlaws is interested in setting up a branch of the TG there, and after a special quest for that zone you gain access to special perks like, I dunno, TROVES and friendly FOOTPADS? (adding a skill point makes allied footpads appear? Seriously, what rubbish. I think it would make much more lore sense that by gaining rep with the local thieves, they'll help you back by leaving goodies around and helping you escape the guards.)

I was excited for some sort of rebuilding/re-establishing the TG quest line that would entail you spreading their influence across Tamriel again. Instead what we get are lazily implemented systems that get knee jerk nerfs and bland repeatable quests. What a waste of potential.

    Not at all.
They have already made comparable changes in leveling zones. The little improvements to TG repeatables would be easy enough. Heck, adding the Troves themselves and the category tags to loot you steal is that type of change to leveling zones.

Maybe a quest to steal from a specific person, breaking into their house. Or a quest to track a stolen item through multiple people to figure out where it is.

The single player ES games had some fantastic thieves guild quests. Oblivion in particular was wonderful (tracking, then eventually becoming the Grey Fox).
