I'd also like an explanation. I really do feel everything should be released on all platforms on the same day. If you push consoles a month because you aren't ready then push the release on pc a month as well. I am a pc and a ps4 player and have been playing since beta so this is an unbiased opinion.

Simple... because PC players are the Live version beta testers for consoles. By playing on PC pre-console launch, it gives the devs time to begin working on patches since Sony/MS require a lengthy 'approval process' before anything goes Live on their servers. So by releasing Live on PC first, it helps them begin working on fixes that can then be submitted for Live in a timely (within a month) process. If this wasn't true, then consoles would have the bugs for two plus months... one month to work on fixes another month waiting for approval to go Live.

Xbox and Sony require a certification process they send it in 2 weeks before it launches on console and we wait for the to say okay. It's not Zos fault it's like this for every game quit crying.

Would be nice if through the cert process testers were put in place for quality assurance. I wouldn't have certified the last two broken arse updates.

It's a pain however the bugs that were on the PC were more than likely fixed despite the patch itself not downloading properly on the day it wasn't a big issue as you only had to restart the console. Personally it doesn't bother me.

    This is actually false.

Thieves Guild launched on console with all the bugs from PC plus some of its very own.

PC will be getting an incremental fix on Monday to address some thing that will not come till sometime next month for consoles.

Xbox and PSN do require a verification process to make sure ESO or any other game is not dropping BS into their system that will either break it or provide a security risk.

Depending on the time year it's two to three weeks to approve a packet provided there is not a problem.

THe more probable reason is so the group who worked on the PC DLC can finish the DLC then go through the download and make the adjustments necessary to port the DLC/Update to console. They finish one completely and then tweak it for consoles.

It damn sure isn't to get a head start on bugs.

At least we don't get the real bad glitches like the textureless stuff. Invisible beam effects were pretty bad though.

Don't believe this is the case.

Hundreds of games come out on different platforms (including PC and consoles together).

    Don't believe everything you read.

If ZOS wanted the release dates the same, they would have done it.

That would require delaying the pc patch til consoles gave the OK.

OP asks a very solid and valid question. The whole waiting a month for updates is pretty bs. I play on both Mac and PS4, and trust me when I tell you guys. If ZOS wanted things to be released at the same time, they'd so.

No in fact. Consoles sit with initial patch much longer, and bugs not get fixed at least a month.

I think late release is way to give console people time to prepare themselves for well documented on forums bugfest.

If consoles had a PTS system, they could release on the same date. Consoles don't have that. Don't hate me for saying this ("ZOS doesn't fix their bugs blah blah blah") but that is why PTS is there. They have to iron things out before they can make a finalized port to submit to Sony/Microsoft. It would be a ported mess otherwise.

I would be interested to know if the game preview program for the Xbox could work in the same way as the PTS. Does anybody know if games like Ark: Survival are patched up to date with the PC?

You're delusional if you think this is the sole reason behind WHY they're releasing patches at different times.

It also costs a pretty penny to run a patch through as well.
This isn't the reason for delays.
Console users have their own beta testers as well. This isn't anything new.

They've had months to patch/add/remove things from all platforms upcoming DLCs. Two weeks is really the sole reason to delay and seperate platform releases?? No way in hell.

Go tell that funny story to Dice/Activation or anyone else.

The reason is because it's a lot easier to take on one platform at a time versus releasing all three at once when you've only got so many employees working around the clock.

It's not that complicated to understand.

In fact, I think this is better.

PC players got the game first, so they should have updates first. IMO.

Just another reason it should never have been released on Console. Then with an already fractured and limited team working and rushing to get two releases ready- they could focus and put out something decent on one platform

Keep in mind that if DLCs were released on all platforms at the same time consoles still wouldnt be getting them a month earlier. The PCs would be getting them a month later.

Dice held the dlc back.sony and Xbox have had certification processes since the PS3 and 360. Takes them 5-7 days to approve it and developers use the additional time because they can see step by step the process of it's going to get approved or denied. So please tell me how consoles don't have certification process again? Why do you think PC gets quick incremental patches or hot fixes? For instance battle spirit bug of got a hotfix consoles didn't because of cost and certification process.

This is exactly what I'm saying... ZOS takes roughly a month to provide fixes for consoles. Thus, you received the TG DLC which was already in the process of approval process and CANNOT be 'patched'... so it released with bugs... then it takes about a month from release for the devs to get the patch fix submitted and approved. If DLC launched at same time with PC, you would have a month for them to figure out where the bugs are and submit a patch, then another month of dealing with those bugs until the patch was approved. This way, since it releases a few weeks after PC, the devs have had time to narrow down the bugs, ready a patch, and submit for approval- that way you're only dealing with the bugs a few weeks until the patch is approved instead of two months for them to both figure out where the bugs are and then submit a patch for approval.
